Avoid Loan Apps in Nigeria

in Hive Learners7 months ago

Now the fear of Nigerian loan apps is the beginning of wisdom hehe!! If you are a Nigerian and you haven't collected a loan from these loan apps then you are a rich kid and I want to be like you when I grow up.

Have I collected a loan before? Well, I don't do loans, if you are doubting it you can ask the apps "Oya una don catch me" I've collected one before but believe me just once from these apps online but mine didn't get to the point of being a bad experience for me cause before the due date I had some money in my bank account that was linked to the app so on getting to the date they deducted the money themselves, did I feel bad about it? Of course, I did, after having little money that made me look wealthy then all of a sudden one loan app had to collect my money which was practically theirs though.

I got to know someone who had a very bad experience with these loan apps, late part of last year my aunt didn't have a smartphone and was so eager to get one, now she could have waited and saved up for it right? But she couldn't cause the prices kept increasing daily so she just wanted to get it already. There was this loan app she had used before and to her notice, the interest rate wasn't that high so she decided to get another loan from that same app since she was familiar with it.

She called me one morning and used my phone to install the app then she logged into her account on the app and they said she was eligible for three hundred thousand naira thats about three hundred dollars if not less, so after the money entered her account she realized it was much so she decided to send one hundred thousand naira back to the app to clear some part of it but to her surprise the app was still showing the three hundred thousand instead of two hundred thousand after paying back one hundred, so she called the customer care contact and was attended to by someone, so she told the person what happened and the care agent assured her they were gonna reconcile it later in the day.

We waited till evening to see if the amount was gonna reduce nope it didn't instead the interest rate got higher, and she was to pay seventy-four thousand for five months. When I first saw it I screamed like after depositing one hundred thousand she had to pay seventy-four thousand for that time duration, it was too much. We calculated everything it amounted to almost half a million. She started the payment the following month and was still communicating with the customer care agents and reminding them of the first payment she made cause it hadn't been cleared.

Getting to the last due month, they've started calling her, threatening her to make payment and if she didn't they would be forced to expose her to her family and loved ones, my aunt on the other hand wasn't scared of what they'd do. The following day they started sending messages to some persons on her contact list telling them that she was a criminal on the run with their company's money, they said they would call the police to come apprehend her, and at this point, people had started calling her concerning the loan, to avoid such an embarrassment she decided to pay it off cause the calls were coming non-stop if consistency was a company it would have been these loan apps.

After making the last payment they called her and told her the loan had been cleared and the good news was that she was eligible for half a million, on hearing this she didn't wait for them to finish talking she hung up the call and blocked the number. Lesson learned: Avoid these loan apps if you are a Nigerian cause they will frustrate you when it's past the due date, I know my lesson sounds more like a warning but just avoid them.

Thanks for reading🌹

Hehe. The fear of loan apps is truly the beginning of wisdom ooo. Although I’ve not had any experience with them, I’ve heard a lot from people. It is best to just stay away from them.

Yeah, that's the best one could do, always stay far away from it cause the embarrassment alone.

That was a horrible experience, imagine how high the interest rate was! Those people are real thieves and oppressors. Sorry your aunty had to go through that..she will never try it again eh.

She won't try it again, cause they say experience is the best teacher

Yeah, that is very right

Those loan app are something else. Imagine all the treats and embarrassement yet they still have the gots to call her again to borrow a higher amount.
