Have you ever entered a bus and you will be having this crazy thought that will be so engrossed in your mind that you will feel like getting out of the vehicle and wishing not to get into another one? This has always been my fear anytime I board a vehicle because I always think of unexplainable things. I have had several crazy car experiences both when I'm traveling within my locality and outside my state. For someone like me who can't afford to take an airplane when going out from one state to another, I would have to endure the pain of traveling via car.
For the one outside my state, I once traveled to Abuja and I had to enter a car at Kwara Express, this is Kwara State Car Corporation for travelers. It was an experience I wished I never had again in my life. From Kwara State to Abuja should be 7 hours at most if all things being equal. I went to register a day before my travel to get on the first bus going to Abuja the next day. On getting there by 7 am, I was told the first bus had been booked and it was full and had left. I was told to get into the second bus which was still loading its passengers and their luggage.
I don't like sitting at the back because sometimes it's not so comfortable and I will have to fold my legs and that is one big trouble for me to sit that way for such a long distance. I sat on the next seat behind the driver, that place was a bit comfortable since it's not a self-owned car, I wasn't expecting total comfort but at least a little that can make me get to wherever I'm going without much body pain. After waiting for almost an hour and 30 minutes, the car finally got loaded and we were set to move. Everyone on the bus who came early was complaining about the time spent waiting for other passengers.
In the end, the driver apologized and we set out, still in my state, the driver branched at their filling station where they got their buses refilled with petroleum for the whole journey. One thing I dislike so much is the odor of petroleum, it makes me nauseous and this is why I do travel with my nose mask on. On getting to the filling station, I guess the attendant was a newbie who didn't know how to handle the nozzle well. She inserted the nozzle into the car and out of nowhere, the petroleum started splashing all over the car including the passengers who were sitting close to the window which I was one of them.
At that point, I was infuriated because I couldn't believe that what I hated most just happened to me. My bag had been packed, I couldn't possibly get a change of raiment. I didn't know what to do, and other passengers were saying since it was petroleum, it would dry off in no time. I had to wear those clothes that way from Kwara State to Abuja smelling of petroleum. "How will I survive this?" was the question ringing in my head. I was so angry but what could I do? Absolutely nothing. Another attendant rushed to her and corrected whatever mistake she made and our bus was filled then we left.
After some minutes, we left Kwara State and I was already feeling like vomiting my intestines. The lady sitting beside me was trying to sympathize with me and telling me to hold on but can I hold it? Another question left unanswered. After two hours, the driver started complaining about something about the car that I had no idea of. He packed at a mechanic place I guess they knew each other well because of the way they were interacting. We were asked to alight to check whatever was wrong with the car and after about 30 minutes, the mechanic was done and we were asked to load ourselves back into the car which we did and we set out again.
After about another two hours, we stopped at a popular restaurant along Lokoja to eat, I couldn't have eaten if not vomited it all inside the car. The only thing I could eat was Coca-Cola to keep my stomach full because I was hungry. After taking the first gulp of Coca-Cola, I vomited it because I'd been trying not to vomit since we started the journey but I couldn't hold it anymore. Another 30 minutes gone, and after everyone was done, we continued our journey. My clothes were still smelling petroleum, I was very uncomfortable and my mood for that traveling was ruined. I should have mentioned where we were stopping but I don't know their names, pardon me for that.
We had another stop after some hours to gauge the tires, we had to alight from the bus. And continued after they were done, a journey which I took off around 9. am in the morning and I was expecting to get to Abuja by 4 pm at the latest by 5 pm turned into a 12-hour journey for me, I was getting to my destination 9 pm in the night. I was tired, I showered, had light food, and slept like a log of wood. The next morning, I
Was feeling pain all over my body because he was entering different potholes because of the bad road, that day I regretted boarding that bus to Abuja, it was my craziest car experience which I prayed not to witness again took forever.
Thanks for your time and your comments will be appreciated.
