We are already into the new year and different people have begun to put their resolutions to work, People are gradually getting their lives back on track, and voila daily activities have begun. Just as at the beginning of every year, the New Year celebration is over and work has begun in earnest. I have begun to get my onions right (working towards achieving my set goals for the year). I can't afford to remain at the same level I was last year, I desire a positive change in every area of my life such as in my career, and in my business. In a few months, we will be in the middle of the year and gradually, the year will be coming to an end which means there isn't time for procrastination. Do what you have to do on time and get yourself on track to achieving your goals.
One thing that will take place this year that I'm looking forward to is my birthday, it happens once a year and it is a day I usually look forward to. Not because I have an important outing I want to go but because I love the feeling the new age comes with. I am in my late 20s and each new year brings some kinds of feelings that I can't explain, all I can say is I love what I feel during my birthdays. Birthdays are to be celebrated and enjoyed but, weirdly, some people don't celebrate birthdays because they feel they are a year closer to their grave. I don't know where they got that mentality from.
While I was a child, I celebrated my birthday every year in school being the first child of the family. I do enjoy myself to the fullest, I thought that's how it would go on but unfortunately, nothing lasts forever. When I clocked ten, I celebrated my birthday just the way I always did, and I expected to have the same the following year when I clocked eleven but the story was different. The morning of my 11th birthday, I was expecting to see gifts as usual but nothing of such, I began to wonder what was going on. I woke up and I heard my parents singing birthday songs, although they do that every year.
Then I was admitted into junior secondary school, after dressing for school, I expected my mom to carry my gifts as usual as she drove me to school but I saw nothing then I asked her, "Mom where are my gifts?" she smiled and asked, "at this age, you still want to take gifts to school?". I was shocked because I was wondering what my age had to do with me celebrating my birthday. From that day onward, I stopped taking gifts to school to celebrate my birthday but I do get gifts from my parents. It took a while before I adjusted to the new way because I'm used to celebrating it with my friends for the 10 years of my life as a little girl.
I look forward to celebrating my birthday this year, I want to have a little party with my friends and enjoy a nice time after long years of celebrating alone. Adulthood hits differently I must say, when the reality of life hits, you will forget to celebrate birthdays but we should always remember to enjoy our birthdays because it's once in a year and when we are privileged to be alive, we should enjoy it as much as we can. The one thing I'm looking forward to this year is my birthday, it means a lot to me and this is a fact I cannot deny.
