As we all know, our parents are just like our mini gods and after God, we are expected to respect our parents more. Even in the Bible, it is said that we should honor our father and mother. They are the ones we look up to and they serve as our first role model even before we begin to think of what we want to become in life.
When we were young, we felt our parents were always right which is wrong but the more we grow, we tend to realize that they are just human beings like us and that’s why it is possible for them to make mistakes too.
My parents have been right and wrong in numerous way and I’d give instances.
A time when my parents were right
There was a time Nigerians were going through a lot, lol. A lot of youths used to be harrased by policemen especially the ones known as SARS. Once they see that a young guy is dressing nice and looking good, they’re ready to attack you, question, search your phones and all their aim is just to collect money from them.
This has been happening and a protest broke out. My parents know how stubborn I am so they called me three good times on just one day and begged me not to go for the protest but as a disobedient child, I went there. I went to the government’s office at Alausa which was quite far from my place in Bariga and I spent about four hours so I got tired and left. From what I heard, immediately I left, a fight broke out and some thugs came to destroy the protest. Some people got robbed, killed, injured and all but I’m just glad that I left there early.
Obedience is good and in this state, my parents were right. I’d forever listen to them, lol.
A time when my parents were wrong
We were robbed in my family house two months ago. I gog my phone the second day. That’s because I make money online and I needed to be back on track as fast as possible. Then, my parents wanted to buy their phones too. I would not like to sabotage a particular product so my dad told me the name of the phone he wanted to get for he and my mum. The phone is very good though and has a long lasting battery but the camera is bad.
I told my dad and convinced the two of them to buy a better product but they didn’t listen. They went on to buy that exact phone they wanted. It was working fine until they wanted to test the camera and it was looking blurry. The annoying thing is that just one of those phones cost $160. I wonder why they spent that kind of money to buy a phone that has a bad camera.
I’m sure they regret buying the phone but they will be too shy to say it in my presence, lol.
At this state, they were wrong and this made me realize something. I think we youths of these days know a fee things better than our parents just like phones and all…
Have a nice day!
