I was in class one day and my lecturer asked all of us the difference between career and job. We were all giving answers based on what we knew but at the end of the day, we didn’t get it right until the lecturer explained it to us.
A job is what you do or a task you do to earn money which is mostly done for a short-term until you retire and at the same time, a career is something you’re aiming to do or become and you build towards it everyday so you can get better at it.
A career is something you love to do, right? Unfortunately, you may not make money from it.
Is it okay to have multiple careers?
Yes, why not? You can have multiple careers at once as long as you know how to manage them together. At the same time, you can’t be a master of all trades. Also, it isn’t good to put all your eggs in one basket. If you have multiple careers, some of them will be lagging and at the end of the day, you may not be able to do well in any of them. Why not focus on just one and do well with it?
Also, I feel the best thing a career person and hustler can do is have a job and also focus on your career. You’d at least know that you are earning some money and following your career and when you realize that things are going well with your career, you can stop the job and focus fully on your career since you’re now earning from it.
I feel that’s the best.
What’s the advantage of having multiple careers?
I feel the advantage is that you can get some gigs based on any area you focus on instead of just focusing on one career path. Also, it is not nice to put all your eggs in one basket so you can actually be known for so many skills and you may even be lucky to become well known in one of those career paths that you have chosen and you may decide to focus on it fully at the end of the day.
I feel that’s better. It’s just like putting all of them on test and going for the best one or the one that works out for you. It will be easy as long as you’ve realized the exact one people love most about you.
The disadvantage to having multiple careers
This will be very bad for people who find it very hard to merge two things together and there is no way one career path will lag and the other one will be favored. That’s mostly how it works. Also, you cannot be a master of all trades. You’d tend to realize that you won’t be a professional in any of your career path and that’s because you have refused to focus on just one.
This is my opinion on having miltiple careers. I can’t sabotage it because it has helped some people and some people could not cope with it. That’s why I listed the advantages and disadvantages in my article.
