The Scorching Reality of Climate change in My Area

Hello Everyone,
Climate change is no longer something we read in textbooks and news outlets again, we are now witnessing firsthand a full effect of climate change.

We are experiencing a lot of strange weather like delay in rain, excessive heat, rise of flood and draught, even some patterns of our ecosystem are changing.
Climate change usually occurs whenever we release too much gases to the air, wether carbon dioxide and other gases from Mechanical Machines or wastes from factories. Other factors can also cause climate change: things like deforestation.

I am staying in Benue state, this is my 5th year, ever since my stay, I have never experienced such an abnormal harsh weather conditions.
The rain didn't come at the right time, the sun is now scorching Hot and many other irregular weather.
Benue State, known for its rich agricultural heritage and vibrant communities, is facing an unprecedented challenge: climate change. The effects are becoming increasingly evident, with intense heat, lack of rain, and harsh weather conditions affecting the lives of its residents.

Firstly we are experiencing Intense Heat: A Growing Concern
The rising temperatures in Benue State have become unbearable, especially during the dry season. The heat waves are not only uncomfortable but also pose serious health risks, particularly for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing medical conditions.

Lack of Rain: A Threat to Agriculture
The unpredictable or should I say unprecedented rainfall patterns in Benue State have severely impacted agriculture, a sector that is the backbone of the state's economy. Farmers are struggling to adapt to the changing climate, leading to reduced crop yields and food insecurity. This not only affects the livelihoods of farmers but also has a ripple effect on the entire food chain. Just imagine the numbers of farmers that farmed yam, early this year, most of their seed yam that was planted died off due to lack of rainfall.

Harsh Weather: A Challenge to Daily Life
The harsh weather conditions in Benue State are making daily life increasingly difficult. The lack of rain has led to water scarcity, affecting not only agriculture but also access to clean water for drinking, cooking, and hygiene.

The Human Impact

The effects of climate change are not limited to the environment; they are also having a profound impact on the people. Many residents are struggling to cope with the changing climate,
Most of the time for farmers here, they only go to their farms very early in the morning during the time when the sun is not yet out and they also leave the farm immediately the sun starts coming up.
It is so bad to that extent.

But What can we do to reduce the effect of climate change?
While the situation seems hopeless or Dire, there is still hope. I strongly Believe that By working together, we can mitigate the effects of climate change and build a more resilient future for Benue State. Some potential solutions include: Implementing climate-resilient agricultural practices, such as drought-tolerant crops and conservation agriculture, so as to help the farmers adapt to the changing climate and also Implementing water conservation measures, such as rainwater harvesting and efficient irrigation systems, can help reduce the impact of water scarcity. Finally Investing in renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power, can help reduce the state's reliance on petrol fuels and mitigate the effects of climate change.

Do you know that we humans too are like the major cause of climate change and the truth is that, we aren't even doing much to help our climate. some people just want to make money not caring what it does to the massess

the sad part is that, not many people have the idea of what climate change is all about.

That's just how bad it is

With the passage of time, there are many changes in the weather, so what I am saying here is that we also have to change some things, just like the 75-year-old sewage system in our country, and now every time it rains, the entire city gets damaged, so these things need to be changed.

Things needs to be changed for real
