Our world has evolved so much; looking back, I can point to a lot of things that have passed through evolution, and humans are adapting to these changes. Some of these evolutions are good and some not too good, yet we are still navigating through them. If you ask me, I will say that the kind of evolution we are yet to see will be bigger than what we have experienced so far, considering how digitalized our world has become and how AI and robots are simply doing magical things, surprising us with new discoveries!
I can vividly remember how my grandma made a light bulb, kind of using stuff from a palm tree. I don't know how to best explain it, but we just get palm oil, mix it with what we got from the palm tree, and light it up. This is different from using lanterns with kerosene. The day she couldn't afford to buy kerosene, she produced that local light, and it still served the purpose. Many people in our village back then were constantly using that same source of light until evolution overtook our world and we graduated to using electric bulbs. I doubt if anyone still uses that source of local light today; things have changed, and we have embraced the good change to make our lives easier.
We can't exhaust talking about the varieties of evolution humans have experienced since many decades ago and still counting. As we keep existing, new discoveries are emerging daily, and I simply have an open mind to experience the unthinkable evolution we will behold in the future. But guess what, we will still find a way to adapt to these changes, whether physically, environmentally, health-wise, socially, or otherwise; evolution never stops! There is this popular saying that the beautiful ones are not yet born. To me, I see evolution as the same as the statement because greater evolutions are not yet born!
Having said that, one of the evolutions I think is humanity's next step is using technology to enhance our cognitive abilities. Like attaching a device to the brain to boost the processing rate. I am not surprised if this becomes so rampant soonest, because what can AI not do in our world today? The challenge is how many people can afford such enhancement. Humans are always seeking for easier ways of living, and I am sure embracing this kind of evolution wouldn't be negotiable for many people and even firms. This will mean that for every knowledge or skill one wants to acquire, it will become faster and more efficient with the device, and there will be an increase in speed in doing work and solving problems because a computer kind of is attached to the brain.
Let's not even go far; with the way our world is evolving fast, it will be interesting to see that we may have machines do virtually anything we can think of in the future. Your own will just be to make a command and have it done. It sounds scary, lol, but anything is possible; that's how much I think we can get with this thing called evolution, but in all, I hope we don't lose our sense of emotions and the beauty of the humans we are.
In our ever-changing world, I can only hope that our hearts as humans are guarded and we don't lose the love and the care we have for one another. Let the changes come, but let them not affect our sense of living as humans! Again, we are created to be in charge of everything in our world, but not for them to be in charge of us or, better said, control our existence.
