Everyone is advocating for quality education these days so really, being a literate isn’t anything special anymore. What’s special is what you can use these opportunities being presented to you for. These days, even the worst of the worsts go to school. I’ve seen thieves in school, drug deals, fraud boys and so many more. No one cares so far as you’re not causing trouble to getting caught. At the end of the day, it’s our society that suffers. Why because we let these people into our educational system and who knows , they might she even corrupted most of their mates along the line. So now, they get to graduate and come out of the educational system with a whole clan on fucked up people who are out here with refined skill to fuck everyone up out here, pardon my french.
So, where are those who said being learned makes you a better person. Come closer. Let’s not even go far okay. Take are look at our politicians for example, most of them happen to have the finest portfolios you could ever come across. Well educated, two degrees, a masters, a PhD and many more. Good records and what have you. But what is that one thing we all know they forgot to add to their CV? Stealing from the people. Most of these politicians out there are specialised in stealing from us in broad day light and given that we are those that voted them into power, there’s really not much we can say than complain until we are tired and decide to leave them alone. Do you still think being a literate makes you a better person?
Don’t get me wrong, this doesn’t really apply to everyone. Some people do have conscience. I’ve met so many educated people who are very honest and genuine. I’ve been met people who were known to be a nuisance in society but once they got the opportunity to go to school and empower themselves, they made good use of it and are even out here helping others today. So, I’d say being a good or better person has to do with the individual. Some people use the fact that they’re lite due to cheat others while others use their to help others.
To me, being a good person isn’t a something that is handed over to you through the educational system. It’s a choice, a personal decision at that and you have to make that decision yourself!
