Out of Hand

in Hive Learnersyesterday
A lot of things we enjoy today is all thanks to science. We have so many reasons to be grateful, some little some great but all important. The fact that we can have communication with a family member who is thousands of miles away in another continent, even the fact that the person could travel that far is all because of science. Our understanding of weather and being able to predict and hence plan accordingly is due to science. Our understanding of agriculture, feeding and nutrition is all down to science too. The list of the great gifts from science is endless.

Science despite all these has also given us reasons to cry and mourn the loss of lives.
One of the areas science did go far is in the aspect of warfare.

Man has always been known to quarrel and fight but many years ago, war was such that only those in battle field could be harmed. Though the effects could affect those at home too because war is always deadly.
But Nowadays, warfare has become such that a nation can threaten another with annihilation & genocide and you will believe they can actually do that because they have shown to wield such power and it's all thanks to science. We see it play out everyday in our daily lives now with videos and pictorial evidence too.

In such cases, there is very little the world can do except hope, pray and discourage the threatening country from carrying out their threat. Even if they proceed to do it, little or nothing would still be done to bring about justice or punishment.

So I ask myself, what really is the benefit of bombs and other forms of weapons that could threaten the existence of mankind. The nuclear weapons and biologic weapons of warfare too.
What really do they contribute towards ensuring that life is better for us all.

When you hear the amount of money that is used in production of these weapons, you will just get overwhelmed with tiredness. Those money if channeled towards betterment of life, would go a looong way in ensuring that it is achieved. But no! Let's build weapons we would use and destroy others.

These weapons that the only control man has over it is to release it but once released, the effects can no longer been controlled. Some of them even continue to disturb the people several years after it happened as we saw in Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

I appreciate science for all it has done for man including for it's contribution towards health care and saving lives. I only wish it was not a double edged sword.

I really wish scientists would stop creating or researching on more ways to end humanity but I know it won't stop because warfare and conflicts generate a lot of money for the politicians so it's not going to end anytime soon.

In truth science has been awesome, but when it comes to inventions in warfare's like weapons, it's a disaster that's destroying our world.

A big disaster that should be stopped

Why use science as a means of genocide, these bright minds could innovate something better

Exactly, yet they keep reinventing deadly weapons

Thank you 😊
