There is one act I learnt a long time ago from my former boss, I used to work in a school then as a class teacher, and he would say we should always drop whatever problems we had from home at the school gate before entry and if we feel like, we can pick it up and continue where we stopped after closing hour, this was to make sure we paid full attention to the pupils we taught and not let the challenges we had at home disrupt our productivity at work.
It used to be funny, or annoying for some teachers anytime he laid emphasis on this statement daily, but the truth was that he was after the best output from his employees and nothing less. Just like him, I want the best for myself in the year 2024, so just like him, I would be dropping negative habits that hampered my productivity and mood in the year 2023, and that would be Worrying , yea, you read that right, I'm the kind of person that worries a lot especially when things don't go the way as planned, this has been a long time challenge for me and could easily get me depressed, last year, I got faced with so many financial challenges that I thought of giving up at some point. I had an awakening one day and asked myself this question *did my worrying solve the situation? You can guess this answer, no, it didn't, it only added to the problem by making me depressed the more, so this year, I've resolved to put an end to my worries, I would rather do my best and leave the rest, and stop worrying especially about anything I have no control over, and only focus on what I have control over.
For instance, I know I want to be financially free and live the comfortable life I desire for me and my family, this is not something that can happen overnight, it takes time, dedication, and hard work on my part, I might not be where I want to be yet, still, I must learn to appreciate my little wins, it is only when we appreciate our little achievement, only then would we see how much we've achieved, but if we keep on counting what we haven't achieved yet, we create space for worry and worst case depression, the time spent in worrying can actually be put into being productive
So just like me, I'm reaching out to everyone out there, Do not Worry over what you have no control , inflation for instance is something we have no control over, it was very painful to read about a young lady on the news yesterday who committed suicide due to the hardship of the country, but you have control over how you manage your finances and lifestyle to adapt, aim to make the best of this new year, and trust me worrying wouldn't contribute positively to the best we seek for.
