My journey through hair making and fashion designing

in Hive Learners8 months ago

Learning is in phases and it can be challenging at times and the only instrument to conquer the challenges requires time, practice, and patience. As they say, practice makes perfect. However, learning requires the right mindset, a good approach, and resources, with all these mentioned, it is possible to overcome challenges and learn passionately. Even in school settings, if a student does not have a positive mindset, patience, and practice, Learning cannot take place or be effective.

My baby girl

It was just as easy as anything,
a raw talent I must say.

I was still a little girl when I discovered this hair-making talent in me. I started my hair making with a plastic dull that has no hair on the head. I single-handedly fixed the hair myself with nobody's supervision or guidance by puncturing the head with a nail and inserting the attachment into it one after the other till it was filled up with hair. As little as I was, in elementary school when I had started making hair for students in secondary schools why? because there was a passion for it?

On normal ground, Learning hair could be difficult for some people while it is not for others like me. The part I like is the creativity aspect, you have to think to make a unique style, and every mistake at first is a style. Someone somewhere initiated that style.

Hair done by me

So, when I graduated I didn't get a job on time, so I decided to be a stylist before I proceeded to my usual job hunts. I did a stylist and believe me, the owner of the salon was always in awe to see the way I held cutting comb, cutting and styling hair which those I met on the ground couldn't achieve for months. Talent differs! I was gifted 😁 I was there for a month before I got a permanent job.

Hair-making requires creativity. You have to apply wisdom to be able to execute different hairstyles that suit different face shapes, hair types, and personal preferences. I know all these without anyone instructing me. She begged me to please work in that line, but as a lady who wanted a white-collar job, I refused to be in that line. Hair-making is strenuous and it demands time but the passion I have for it makes it simpler. I learned different hairstyles on my own like ghana weaving, braided hair, twisting, cornrows, baskets, and lots on my own.

Fashion designing was hard for me
  to learn.

As a fast learner in terms of skills and empowerment for example hair making, baking, bead and wire works among many others (just a glance, I am good to go) I find it hard to learn fashion designing, all that they do seems too hard for me to grab. I wanted to learn, so I met this neighbor of mine to teach me, I had broken all the needles yet I could not whine the machine without the needle breaking. Why? Should I say it's difficult? It is to me because I find it hard to grab. Let me stop before I spoil somebody's machine, my thoughts!
Is fashion designing, a no-go area for me? I will still strive to learn and see the outcome.

I couldn't learn fashion designing but I'm so quick to grab every other skill at a glance.

I have sisters that picked this hair making thing from a very early age. They were so good that hair dressers usually come to hire them out.

I hope they venture into making it big by expanding their skill not like me that abandoned it

Learning requires positive mindset, patience like you have listed. Hair making is one passion I love so much and I was shocked how I learned weaving on my own by just practicing on my cousin's hair. I can make braids too. Though I won't be as fast as a professional but the end result would be seamless.

Acquiring these skills are sure plus for us, you are really talented and I love tje finished look of that hair. Well done sis and keep striving higher.

Do you know with time on the practice, you will be so perfect in making hair?

Please don't stop if you have passion for it🙏🙏 keep striving to be one of the best👌

Thank you for reading dear sis @marynn

That's a fact. Practice will often say makes perfection. I don't have any intention of stopping. Though the only challenge I have right now is not having any female to make hair for. But I no that's going to be for a short moment. Thanks so much for your nice reply.

Yes, dear that's the spirit👍

I really love hair making as well, but Inever got the chance to learn it. I will probably still pursue it, I love it so much. Sorry about not being able to learn fashion designing, you were probably just scared. Funny enough, it is a very interesting and beautiful skill to have.

It is very good. Even if not for others but at least for your kids.

As for fashion designing, I must put my strength in it. I want to know it

I know you will, you are a smart person😌

Lols

I love hair dressing but it's not one thing I would love to do, I can't even make hair. I'm the only female in my family that know nothing about hair making, I even find it difficult to divide hair in two.
