I have always been the adventurous type, visiting new places and all but life have a way of dictating our choices. It has been awhile I went on any trip as far as I could remember. I'm a creature of habit, I prefer to just stay stuck in my comfort zone. The funny aspect of this is that, all kind of thoughts about going on an adventurous trip is something I think about most times but I have never been able to act on any. It is like I'm always caught in the middle of something, it is either work, school or some other excuse I come up with, it always feels good to always have a reason not to step out of my comfort zone.
Which was one of the reasons why I appreciated NYSC for deploying me to the middle of nowhere in OYO state. It is the first time I faced something powerful enough to force me out my comfort zone. Thanks to that I was able to add one more trip to my trip count.
On many occasions, I have spoken about my services year which happens to be the most adventurous time of my life. I mean traveling to a place that seems outside of civilisation, is definitely not the kind of trip you get to embark on everyday.
Speaking of my most recent travel, I would rather talk about a different trip entirely, though it did not occur recently based on the date but as far as trips are concerned, it is the most recent travel I embarked on. Compared to my NYSC journey that was mandatory, this was more of a pleasure ride.
Last year before my NYSC journey began, my family decided to visit the beach, though it was not just for fun only, more like a religious visit but I was glad to be able to visit somewhere after years of sitting idle. My dad was a little skeptical about the idea of me tagging along because he knew I was never a fan of Cold weather but as soon as he realised the need for me to go, he eventually let me be.
The beach is located at my mom home town Epe, it has been awhile since I visited the place after my grandmother's burial. We left early in the morning so that we can arrive at the location early. Throughout the journey, I never wasted any time when it comes to taking pictures.
We passed through Julius Berger monument, located at the center of the market in Itokin. It is one of the most cherished landmark in EPE. Not just because of Julius Berger but there are some mythical stories that surrounds his death and the construction of itokin bridge.
We eventually arrived at T junction, the most popular joint road in epe, this structure is an indication that you have arrived at Epe. Getting to the beach I can say my mood was a little cheerful because it was so cold, I couldn't feel my ears. We got there around the afternoon, so it was still a little sunny but when the night came, it was far worse than the afternoon.
The next morning, i met new friends, I guess they were there all along😅.
There were all kinds of little crabs 🦀 running around. They get scared easily but the most fascinating thing about this weird creature is that, they are capable of digging holes next to you without you noticing, they don't really bite but I wouldn't test their patience😅😅.
Apart from the crabs, I believe the most friendly creatures there were the doves, though they have the habit of being fearful but when you feed them long enough, they get closer, I guess their trust can be bought
On the last day of my visit to the beach, I hand to stroll around just to see other structures around the vicinity, there were lot of amazing structures and most especially beach camps but they are wary of strangers. Taking pictures of the structures can attract the attention of security men in the building, so I had to just go with the flow and take the pictures I can.
And other pictures of things that seem fascinating for example, the sand at the beach, though I wasn't paying much attention till I realise they glowed depending on the weather. We eventually left the beach around the evening, I slept all through the journey back home.
When next am I planning to travel? I think I'm going to leave it for the universe to decide. Like i said earlier, I'm kind of stuck at home at the moment and the longest I have traveled is from my room to the gate. If I find myself traveling anytime soon, well I'm going to make sure I enjoy every little bit if it, since I have no idea of when I will be traveling next.
