It Is Natural For People To Forget Things

Hello People

Another week another topic to be share here. Today I want to share about forgetting things.. Or maybe I forget what topic I want to share before.

As a normal people, we are bound not to forget things. It is very irresponsible and unprofessional if we keep forgetting things. However sometime we do forget something, unintentionally of course.

Let start from the simple one. have you ever found yourself while talking suddenly you forget what you were about to say? Or while you were cooking, suddenly you forget what spice or ingredient you were working at or you have put them in..

Things can be on not something that simple too. For example, have you ever been in an important meeting, then after you walked into the meeting room, somehow somewhy you just could not remember your ice breaker? or maybe you were zoned out and did not know what to do suddenly..

It is a phenomenon that many call it with different vocabulary, some say it as skipped my mind. A phenomenon when somehow your brain hits a pause button or reset button and something just missing and not clicking well.

Although when we experience that one, undeniably it is very embarrassing and frustrating however you should not be over worried about it. Biologically it is natural and common to happen to all people, so it is kind of harmless in a certain way.

So do not stress yourself and blame many things suddenly such as having a mental health issue. It is coming from the overload in your brain, not in overall but in some of tiny interactions your brain is working at. There are five main things that usually cause people to experience this.

1. Stress and Anxiety. Let's face it, these two are often preoccupied your thought and during certain condition and situation, it would make your brain making a bad action... which is freeze or hang like your phone and laptop lol.

2. Mental Fatigue. It is not only your biological muscle that can get fatigue, your mental can get it too. Lack of sleeping, not taking a relaxation for your mind, or continuously forcing your mind to think of something, will make your brain get fatigue faster.

3. Distractions. It might be the most thing to happen in some people. Sometime when something surprise you suddenly, which make you jump or stamming suddenly, then some people might forget what they have been doing or what they want to do next.

4. Multitasking. When you do multitasking, then you are bound to forget many small things. Some people say women are better than men in multitasking, but this doesn't mean that they are immune of getting "blank" while doing many things or multitasking. IT is not something that guaranteed, but it is something that increase the odds.

5. Getting Old. Harsh but this is the truth... the older you are, the more forgetful is your brain.

Understanding how this skip your mind things happen should help you understand about yourself. Do not taking it as a sign of failure, because it is a normal thing to happen on human brain. Only if this thing happens more often or the intensity is increasing a lot, you should start taking pro active steps to support your mental issue.

So next time your brain goes blank, do not panic and please take a deep breath. You are not alone in this issue


Take A Note

Ok I have talked a lot about it, but how do we deal about this one? Well I am not a phycologist or people who learn this things like @hopestylist does in her school. I knew that from discord, so I will step back and not to be so smart in telling people what to when this thing happens to them.

However I would not throw everything to the expert or expert in progress. I will share here a common thing I do when I feel like I am overload with works and start to forget things. It is TAKING NOTES.

Taking notes is simple but for some people it is not. I am one of them, people who dislike taking notes. Currently I am doing it because my works are on heavy loads. So these are the things I often do.

  1. I write in paper or in note app in my laptop about things I have done today and things I will do for tomorrow and the day after tomorrow.
  2. In my phones, I have notes app that I write down things that I see or find during day light because I worry I might forget them later.
  3. I activate my google calendar, getting my appointments and what I want to do with some extra comments and remarks to remind me what I need to prepare and bring on that event.
  4. This is a bit cheating, I ask my admin to write down things that I might forget and ask her to keep remind me an hour before lol.

Ok that's my formula for myself. I do not know what you will need, but the most important one is to understand that whenever you have a "blank", don't worry, take a deep breath, and just do whatever you can recall for your next action.

This thing happened to me today, I was on a live stream bnas someone asked me a question and as I was answering I stopped mid way, I had forgotten what I wanted to say.
So it happens yea

Sometime it happens to me during big meetings, that's why I always have some small written notes incase I go blank lol

This is very explanatory, stress, anxiety, multitasking, distraction can cause forgetfulness, but aspect of age, not all old forget things, i have a 95 year old grandpa that still remembers his younger days like it was yesterday.
