I want to start by saying that people actually give birth for different reasons, and it varies from person to person, from culture to culture, and other factors possible. Personally, I feel that the decision to give birth to a child should be a selfless one. You should want to bring offspring into this world to nurture, care for, and give them all they need to live a good life. These children didn't beg to be born; it took an intentional act to bring them here, and it is very normal to be responsible for them.
Moving on, it is very true that some people bring up children so that they can give them a better life in the future. You could call this a form of investment. Some will purposely give birth to a lot of children, so at least one will be super successful in life and take good care of them. Honestly, this kind of mentality is kind of selfish because bringing someone into the world just to saddle them with so many responsibilities because of your own personal goals is quite unfair. However, not everyone is like this and regardless of the motives behind anyone bringing a child to this world, it is normal and reasonable for children to take good care of their parents in their old age.
A lot of parents try to secure their children's future and try to not put any pressure on them in any way, and I always respect that. They work so hard and try to own properties so they can be inherited by their children when they finally leave this world. In most cases like this, even the parents will always encourage their children to find their own path and become successful, so they will not rely fully on those kinds of properties. I think it should go both ways: children should work hard even though you know something is waiting for you, and parents should prepare for your future even though you know your future is secured. Also, this life can be very unpredictable.
Taking care of our parents during their old age should actually be something of pride and not a burden. It's a form of gratitude and not something anyone should be forced to do; it's just normal to do it. Parents deserve that kind of care, honestly. For giving so much and loving so deeply, it is not even as if we can ever repay all their love and sacrifices. It does not even matter if they have their own money or have everything in the right places for them; the care they receive from their children will always be different. Our parents are a very important part of our lives.
However, it will be a lie to say that this is not causing a form of pressure in young people nowadays, and it might not necessarily be from the parents because it can be from society. Everyone wants to make it on time, build a life for themselves, and also take good care of their parents.
There always comes a time when our parents won't be as strong as they used to be, and in those times, their children could be their source of strength, selflessly. In a way, I see this life as a cycle: people give birth, take care of their children, build their lives, grow old, get taken care of by their children, the children will give birth to their own children, and the cycle continues.
When I hear people say they don't want to give birth, I usually respect it so much because it is their choice and everyone is entitled to it. That kind of person will definitely have plans to make sure he or she has a secure future. Apart from that, there are some people who are unable to give birth and are growing old. This doesn't mean their lives will end in misery or that they will suffer so much just because they do not have kids. Of course, they will be fine.
As for me, I have always thought of giving my children the best lives without any other selfish motive lingering anywhere in my mind. Oh, maybe their love though, who doesn't love love? I will build a good life for myself and secure my children's future. Whatever they choose to do for me at my old age should totally come from the deepest part of their mind. I don't plan to put any pressure on them; they deserve to have and build their own lives as well, and I will never rob them of that. I will invest a lot in an insurance company so I can comfortably get through life without depending on anyone. By God's grace,.
