So many times, it is always hard to tell the true intentions of people when they are being kind. In a way, we can all agree that the world is a really transactional place. However, I have seen genuine kindness, ones where the person would desire nothing in return. On the other hand, I have also seen people being kind to other people just because they want something in return or for a different thing entirely. Honestly, it can be very hard to tell sometimes, it's as if there is this really thin line between the two situations.

There are some people that do good from the deep part of their hearts, probably because they are wired like that or because just want to. Sometimes, kindness can come with a motive but it not always a bad one. Some people do kind things because it makes them feel good about themselves. For some, it gives a sense of fulfillment. For others, it can be for show off or for other people to see, more like they are doing it intentionally for reasons best known to them. A good example is when politicians do charity, it is to prove a point or win favour or add to their achievements or something else entirely. I am not generalizing though, I want to believe that not all politicians are bad people.

Soo, the question is that: Does the intention behind a kind act matter in any way? Does it matter if you do good things from your heart or not? Does these things make the act more or less worthy?

If you ask 100 people these questions, they will definitely have different views and might make sense no matter the stance they take. For me, I would say these things actually do matter but also, it depends on the situation. Let me give a very vivid example;

Lately, there has been so many content creators that go out to help people and give out foods and so many other thing for content. It doesn't mean that their intention is bad or anything, it is just simply a transactional kind of situation. They help people show acts of kindness and in return, their pages gain visibility and they can be open to so many collaborations along the line. I mean, the people they help do receive the kindness and there was nothing to lose on their end. Will we say these content creators shouldn't do those good things anymore?

However, there is nothing that can be compared to a selfless and genuine kindness with no hidden motive. But then, at the of the day, it is the person doing the kindness that knows where their heart truly lies.

If I happen to find out that a person is being kind to me so they gain something for themselves, I will obviously feel bad and I might quit receiving whatever kindness they are trying to offer me (depending on the situation).

I feel like the heart really matters as well, to get more blessings in return from others, cause if the intention isn't pure I don't think it will yield any return.
