All my life, when a person is called 'a jack of all trades', it usually sound like an insult. They will even end it with 'master of none' and make the person feel as though, they are playing with their lives or that they are being greedy. However, it later came to light that the quote usually spilled anyhow by people when they see others that are trying to be versatile, is infact a half quote. Here is the full one;
a jack of all trades is a master of none, but often times better than a master of one - William Shakespeare
So, basically, I am supporting the fact that being into more than one business or career isn't a bad thing at all. Infact, it takes a really brilliant and strong person to pull that off and the overall reward can be very encouraging. Having multiple careers equates to having multiple sources of income, being versatile, and being dynamic. If one career or business isn't going wall, you will always have another to fall back to. Unlike having a single career where you have limited opportunities.

To be honest, gaining mastery is one career path isn't a bad thing as well, infact it is also a very good thing. I have seen people flourish so much by being masters of a particular skill or career. The outcome is that you will be known for that one thing and your niche will be very clear as well. However, there are some risks that can be attached to taking such a path. Life can be very unpredictable and you have to stay ready at all times. At a time when the skill they are masters in becomes unneeded at a particular time, what happens then? Life is full of ups and downs and it's not going to be cupcakes and butterflies at all times, one has to stay ready for any surprises life might bring.
On the other hand, engaging in multiple career presents different opportunities for a person at different points in their lives. It encourages dynamicity and improves one's survival skills. Although, I am a support of having a main career and then having the side ones. It is actually not easy juggling between different careers, the truth be told. So, personally, I would say say there should be a main career and as much side ones one can handle.
When I was in school, I did so many things and I could easily pass as the human representation of 'jack of all trades'. To my own knowlegdge, I wasn't doing too much but at a point, I started missing some opportunities because what people were saying were starting to get to me. 'How many things are you even doing?' tops the comment🤣 I was just an hustler and these people totally killed my spirit. If I had kept going, maybe I would have become a billionaire by now, ehn😩😂. Or not, lol.
Personally, I would prefer to have multiple careers and even right now, I am doing it already. I have a perfume business which I run online, I have hive where I get to write and also make some money from, and to add to this, I am currently learning a skill--one I can use in the real world as time goes by. I can run my business from anywhere and it is not disturbing my other means of survival. It can get very tedious sometimes though. For instance, there are days where I will have to travel to buy goods and I will have a really tiresome day. Those days, it is always very hard to show up here on hive but it is not impossible. I have had a lot of days like that this year and I still manage to show up here regardless.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to one's personal decision. Whether you decide to pursue multiple careers or just stick to one, it's all good so far you can handle it.
