When it comes to buying things, it can be a dicey situation. You can enjoy it, and it can turn out to be a nightmare. That’s why even when you’re buying products from well-known brands, you package your money well and follow it up with a Hail Mary so that you don’t end up buying something you regret.
We see this all the time, and as long as humans still have greed in them, as long as producers are still interested in making profits than they are in making quality products, we’ll still be faced with this particular issue of buying things that will only serve to frustrate us. But then, from time to time, we buy things that make us happy. Some will even impress us to the point that we’ll be willing to buy it again no matter how expensive it gets.

And like everyone else, I also have something I’ve bought that I regretted almost immediately. Mind you, this wasn’t as a result of substandard products or anything, it’s more about what the product stands for to me. Back when I bought my TV, I also bought a new cable so I would be using it to entertain myself. And as per the new cable that it was, it came with a month’s free subscription.
However, during that month that I watched it, I realized that I was never going to use my money to subscribe to that thing! It was so boring! For someone like me who watches movies almost for a living, I hated the fact that they only had old movies showing, and then for their dramas and soap operas, they’re always giving us reruns! You can watch one single episode for up to twenty times a week.

Many of their original movies are substandard and poorly made, the kind that gives Nollywood a bad name. Only a few standout, but sadly, that’s not enough to make me want to subscribe. I’m not a football lover, I don’t watch football. Other than news, there’s nothing I could possibly get on cable that would interest me. And news as well is not enough to make me subscribe.
So, since that first month expired, the cable has been right here, gathering dust. I don’t even switch to its channel anymore. When I want to watch TV, I either Chromecast from my phone or use HDMI cable to connect to my laptop. And when I have visitors and I just want them to feast their eyes, I turn on YouTube for them. From movies to music videos and loads of comedy, they can spend hours on the platform without getting bored.

To me, the data I would use for YouTube is better than the money I’d give to the cable guys for shows I’m not even going to watch. If I could turn back time, I would not have bought that cable, but it’s too late now. As time goes on, things may change and I may end up using it once more. But not right now. For now, it’ll keep being a magnet for dust.
And then, on the other side, one thing I bought that gave me great joy is my power bank. It’s a 30000 maH power bank that’s manufactured by Transparent, a sub-division of 3C-Hub. It was a fairly new product then, not a lot of people knew about it back then because it was competing with the likes of Oraimo and New Age. One of the things that made me buy it was the price, it was quite cheap at the time. I got it for around $13.

And ever since I bought it, it has been giving me endless joy! I bought it a few years back during the power crisis when the National Grip was always going off. I was using Tecno Camon 7 then and it served me well. Now that I’ve upgraded to Redmi Note 12, the power bank is still giving, and I’ve not seen any reason to consider changing it just yet.
When the power bank is charged fully, it can charge my phone fully about twice, and there’d be change left. And then, there are times when the power bank will seem to become possessed, usually when it’s low. At 1%, it could charge my phone for longer than normal. Sometimes, almost filling it up. There was even a time I was able to get about 30% extra into my phone from the power bank that was on 0%. It was just blinking over and over, charging my phone until it eventually stopped.

This doesn’t happen regularly though. Also, I just can’t shake the feeling that such things are not good for the power bank, maybe it weakens them. Just saying.
So, if I were to buy another power bank, I would definitely buy another Transparent product. The one I’ve used so far has represented the brand well, and I’ve been won over. Others may have something else to say about this brand, but for me, this is one purchase I’ve been very happy with.
