Joining hive has been a blessing to me, and I just want to say shout-out to my on boarder @fredaig for introducing me to this platform even though she led me to the middle of the ocean and left me to either drown or survive, I appreciate her cause her action led me to discovering the many beauties of hive.
First month on hive which was December, I had a major setback and could not be active. Freda would always breathe down on my neck and say even if you don't post, comment on people's post and interact, but at that point in my life I just wasn't in the right frame of mind, so I took a break from hive for one month and began again second week of January.
Coming back on hive after my brief break, I had no definite goal and as a result, I wasn't making much progress.
I wasn't having the engagement or seem to understand fully the pattern of the platform. I would often run to my on boarder for guidance, and it was a bad habit from my end to not pay attention.
Thus, my on boarder found herself always repeating words. At a point, she said to me, I have given you the basics of hive it's now up to you to create your own path.
I felt she removed hand from my matter a little too early, but she did the best for me as I was forced to now be serious.
Gradually, I found myself setting daily goals on the number of post I curate, up vote, reblogs and my post I put up.
I started utilizing my boarder's tips by the side by interacting with hivers and I was seeing fantastic results with my engagement and followers.
Little by little, I started enjoying hive and blogging on the blockchain became more fun and less frustrating.
One of my goals was to always attend weekly hangouts in various communities, to meet experienced hivers, mix up and learn from them a thing or two on the blockchain.
It was on one of these hangouts (hivelearners podcast) that I picked interest at @nkemakonam99 post where she talked about the numerous features on PeakD.
She didn't just explain it to me, she also introduced me to the newbie's initiative on discord, and it was like God was softing ground for me to really get a grasp of the blockchain as I have always needed some guidance to be fully abreast on all what the blockchain has to offer include the crypto aspect.
Talking about goals, we could say that a goal becomes smart when it's actually realistic and achievable, especially within the stipulated period.
Every so often we would want to push ourselves and see how far we can go. In such situations, we might get tempted to setting unrealistic goals which becomes frustrating to achieve.
The thing with unrealistic goals is that one usually achieve little or nothing from it, and it was what affected me when I started on hive.
As I progress on the blockchain, I realize it's not about quantity but quality. It is the quality of your goals that makes it smart because with quality leaves us with smart work but dealing with quantity leaves us with hard work.
I told my on boarder that before the year will run out, I am setting my eyes on 5000HP and she was hailing me.
For the duration of the newbie initiative, I intended to get to 2000HP and to achieve this, I have set up short-term goals and daily targets for myself.
Which are; Topping up my HP with HBD and sometimes my tokens too.
I Would also be leaving my post at 100% power up. And if I cannot achieve the 2000HP? At least 1500HP should be smashed with me meeting up the 500HP balance afterwards
I have also resolved to post quality content and also engage in weekly prompt from various communities. I am currently at 402HP excluding the delegation of 250HP I won from the #Thinkerscorner prompt and I know with consistency and dedication, all things being equal, I will achieve my goals or at least a great feet.
Lately, I am able to meet up with my curation goals and the number of quality post I put up in a week. I am also progressing on my tokens and getting a hang of the tag usage too. Would work with every tokens I am knowledgeable of but would focus more on some selected tokens (LOH, Leo, Dreem, Pimp and Neoxian) to hopefully get me to my target of 50HBD worth of tokens.
For my followers, I am currently at 64 followers, which means I need to step up on my engagement if I want to achieve that 200followers goals. But in all, I can say that I am proud of myself and I am doing very well hoping to do better.
Above is my response to Task1 of the Newbie initiative.
