The Museum of Barquisimeto is located in an old mansion of neoclassical architectural style, built between the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries in the central part of the city.
In its beginnings it housed a hospital, a function it fulfilled until the mid 50's, when this health institution moved to a new, larger and better equipped building.
After many years of being uninhabited and in complete abandonment, the structure that was to be demolished was rescued to house the city's main museum, a function it has fulfilled for more than 40 years.
These photos from my personal archive were taken recently during the celebration of last Holy Week, during which time I took the opportunity to tour the city.
As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.
El Museo de Barquisimeto está ubicado en una vieja casona de estilo arquitectónico neoclásico, construida entre finales del Siglo XIX y principios del XX en la parte central de la ciudad.
En sus inicios albergaba un hospital, función que cumplió hasta mediados de la década de los 50, cuando esta institución de salud se trasladó a una nueva edificación más grande y mejor equipada.
Luego de permanecer muchos años deshabitada y en completo abandono, la estructura que sería demolida, fué rescatada para albergar el principal museo de la ciudad, función que cumple actualmente desde hace más de 40 años.
Estas fotos de mi archivo personal, las tomé recientemente durante la celebración de la pasada Semana Santa, tiempo durante el cual aproveché para recorrer la ciudad.
Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
