Yesterday, I was invited to celebrate the arrival of the New Year at my sister's in-laws' house, where we gathered at 9 p.m. to wait for the 12 chimes that would signal the start of 2026.
While waiting, I found this wooden carving representing the Divine Shepherdess (Divina Pastora), a devotion to the Virgin Mary dating back to the early 18th century, and although it originated in the Spanish city of Seville, it was on the other side of the Atlantic where it found its home among a devout people who have carried it in procession through the streets of my city every January 14 for more than 150 years.
As I have described in previous posts, I process the original photographs using the editing tools offered in their free versions by the applications Picsart and Snapseed.

Ayer fuí invitado a celebrar la llegada del Nuevo Año, en la casa de los suegros de mi hermana, donde nos reunimos desde las 9 de la noche esperando las 12 campanadas que indicarían el inicio de 2026.
Durante la espera, encontré esta talla de madera que representa a la Divina Pastora, una advocación de la Virgen María que se remonta a principios del Siglo 18, y aunque tiene su origen en la ciudad española de Sevilla, fué al otro lado del Atlántico donde encontró su hogar en medio de un pueblo devoto que la saca en procesión por las calles de mi ciudad cada 14 de Enero, desde hace más de 150 años.
Como he descrito en posts anteriores, las fotografías originales las proceso haciendo uso de las herramientas de edición que ofrecen en sus versiones gratuitas las aplicaciones Picsart y Snapseed.
