After a short walk, the dreary skies outside made us want some hot food and drinks, so due to the rainy weather, we decided to seek shelter in the cosy café of the Marsh Green Farm Shop. After settling for a table downstairs, we looked at the menu hoping there were some hearty food and drinks to warm us up on a wet day.
It was very tempting, to find myself sitting next to the counter full of yummy-looking cakes and buns. However, despite the urge to accidentally order some, I managed to resist the temptation. It really is a pain being this good!
We chose a latte and a double espresso coffee, which was accompanied by a macaroon. With all that caffeine, I did think I might end up dancing on the ceiling with Lionel Ritchie! I quite enjoy strong espressos but for those of us with larger-than-life hands, anyone who has ever attempted to pick up a tiny espresso cup with hands resembling shovels can tell you, it can be quite awkward!
For our meals, we decided to order a vegan burger alongside a classic chicken and leek pie, both served with crispy chips and a fresh salad. The vegan burger was packed with flavour, topped with a tangy sauce. The chicken and leek pie was equally satisfying with the chicken and leeks in a creamy sauce. Overall, this hearty meal left me feeling completely full afterwards.
The last few reviews I'd read online weren't very good, but we didn't have any problems at all. Ultimately, the visit to Marsh Green Farm Shop Café not only allowed us to get out of the cold and rain but also provided an opportunity to appreciate some hot coffees and comforting food.
