My eyes twitched and my heart skipped a beat. I didn't want to believe my eyes. Everything felt like a dream, and I stood still, waiting for someone to pinch me back to reality- this was my situation when I realized my most valuable possession hadbeen stolen.
Have you ever been in a situation where you thought your purchase would be a waste of money, but it ended up exceeding your expectations? I'm pretty sure we have all been there. It can be really frustrating and painful when you spend so much money on an item, and it ends up not meeting your expectations. I have been in such a situation so many times. I still remember when I bought a really expensive item, thinking I had spent the money frivolously. As soon as I was debited, I thought about the hundred things I could have bought instead of that item. Surprisingly, things turned out to be interesting. The item turned out to be one of the most valuable purchases I had made for months, until something happened.
The experience that tops the list happened 5 months ago. In my school, it is rare to find good and original products. If I was in a position where I could easily pull the strings, I'd never buy products, especially phone accessories in school. I had been experiencing charger issues for months. I would buy a new charger at the beginning of the month, and before the middle of the month, it would start misbehaving and I'd have to buy another one. The way I kept changing chargers, one might think I was working for Techno, or Oraimo, or one of these big companies. The cycle continued for months. The straw that broke the camel’s back happened when my charger stopped working in the presence of my friend.
Just when I was about to go out to get another one, he recommended a charger that finally solved my problem. Sadly, my joy was short-lived. When my friend recommended this charger, I had doubts about it. For starters, the charger was way more expensive than the normal ones. Also, I had never tried that particular product before. He followed me to the store where we got the charger. Unlike the other chargers I had been buying, this one was well-packaged. It was portable- clean on the inside and outside. What if this charger doesn’t work well? What if it doesn’t last? What if It stops working?” These were the questions racing through my mind just when I was about to pay for it. Finally, I brought out my card and paid for it.
The new charger was a life changer. Undoubtedly, it was the fastest charger I had ever used. Prior to that time, I had never used a charger for as long as 2 months. The one that lasted the longest managed to last for a month and some days. I was so grateful for my friend’s recommendation. I had wasted so much money on fake chargers. Who knew what I was skeptical about for so long would end up serving me so well?
I was certain that I had found the right charger. It was working and serving me well. Just when I thought things had started to go well, something happened. Something disastrous crept in. Unfortunately, I didn't see it coming. Maybe if I did, I would have prepared well for the worst. Someone stole my most cherished charger. It happened when my friends and I went to charge our devices in another hostel because we had no light and our generator was faulty. We left our devices there for about 30 minutes, and when we came back to check them, my charger was gone! To some extent, I was relieved that the thief didn't take my power bank. I had to buy a new one, but it's just not the same. It is slower and doesn't charge as efficiently.
