Leeds was nice but now it is time to head back home. I had a wonderful time, just chilling with my friends and I'm happy I made the trip.
Despite the similarities between Leeds and Nottingham, it genuinely felt like I was in a different town. This is something that I honestly didn't think I'd experience in this place and I was glad to have experienced it.
This trip helped me understand how counties and towns work in UK. I guess because Nottingham was named after Nottinghamshire, I didn't really grasp how it worked but visiting Leeds properly explained it.
I also got to visit a neighbouring town called Bradford and that further clarified how towns and counties work. So, basically, a county is a collection of towns.
The bit that I don't understand is cardinal points thingy. You know, when they say "East Midlands" or "West Yorkshire". That's a geography thing that I'll eventually understand after living here for a while.
Leeds seemed to offer a higher quality of life than Bradford. According to my friends who commute to Bradford regularly, it is far cheaper to live in Bradford than Leeds.
I also learnt that crime is much higher in Bradford than Leeds. I haven't verified the claim, so I'll chuck it down to hearsay.
At Bradford, there were also quite a lot of Palestinian flags waving. I reckon it is safe to assume that this an indicator of a large Muslim community. This is probably why my friends kept referring to the city as "Bradfordistan".
I didn't experience the bus networks enough to have an opinion about it. I only took one commute between Bradford and Leeds, and there weren't any screens in the bus. That's about all I can say about it.
I spent most of the time indoors, playing videogames and drinking spirits with Mr friends. I was too broke to afford anything outside and wasn't really in the mood for it.
Throughout the period, I was dealing with the mental strain from sorting out the due balance for my wife's school fees. I'm pleased to say that we have paid it all and gotten it out of the way. However, for the next couple of weeks, I'll be dead broke.
Anyway, here are some pictures I and my friends took.
