When I got home, I came across a very unusual little creature: a praying mantis, which I had never seen so closely before. Despite looking like a calm and even friendly insect, both because of its appearance and its curious name, I had already heard stories from a cousin saying that it can become quite defensive when it feels threatened. If someone tries to grab it carelessly, they might end up getting hurt, since its front legs have structures similar to small saws, used both for hunting and defense.

Since it was very close to the dining table, I thought it would be better to move it somewhere else to avoid any problems. So, I carefully tried to guide it away using a broom, making sure not to hurt it. After some effort and a lot of patience, I finally managed to take it to the backyard, where there are plenty of plants and a much more suitable environment for it to live and feed.

The most interesting part was observing up close how this insect has an almost “alien-like” appearance, with slow and calculated movements, as if it were analyzing everything around it. Even though it is small, it has an impressive presence, especially because of the shape of its legs and the way it moves its head. After this experience, I started to better understand why the praying mantis sparks so much curiosity and even inspires stories and legends in different cultures around the world.

Ao chegar em casa, me deparei com um animalzinho bem inusitado: um louva-a-deus, que eu nunca tinha visto tão de perto. Apesar de parecer um inseto tranquilo e até amigável, tanto pela aparência quanto pelo nome curioso, já havia escutado relatos de um primo dizendo que ele pode ser bastante defensivo quando se sente ameaçado. Se alguém tentar pegá-lo de qualquer jeito, pode acabar se machucando, já que suas patas dianteiras possuem estruturas semelhantes a pequenas serras, usadas tanto para caça quanto para defesa.

Como ele estava bem próximo da mesa de jantar, achei melhor retirá-lo dali para evitar qualquer problema. Então tentei conduzi-lo com uma vassoura, claro, tomando bastante cuidado para não machucá-lo. Depois de algum esforço e muita paciência, consegui levá-lo até o quintal, onde há várias plantas e um ambiente muito mais adequado para ele viver e se alimentar.

O mais interessante foi observar de perto como esse inseto possui uma aparência quase “alienígena”, com movimentos lentos e calculados, como se estivesse analisando tudo ao redor. Mesmo sendo pequeno, transmite uma presença impressionante, principalmente pelo formato das patas e pela forma como movimenta a cabeça. Depois dessa experiência, passei a entender melhor por que o louva-a-deus desperta tanta curiosidade e até inspira histórias e lendas em diferentes culturas ao redor do mundo.
