Sometime last week, we were invited by a balikbayan cousin to go to Bolinao, Pangasinan.
Balikbayan means someone who returned to the country coming from abroad from the words balik meaning return and bayan meaning country/town.
Anyway, I got excited considering that I wanted to visit Bolinao since. Bolinao is a town in Pangasinan and based on pictures I see in other sites, they have lots of beaches and picturesque spots.
We arrived at around 3 in the afternoon. We first went to the beach in Ilog Malino.
In this photo, one could see the water so far away from the shore.
It was low tide. We were informed the water comes up to the shore in the morning and goes down in the afternoon. So at that time, we cannot swim yet. So instead, the kids enjoyed catching crabs in the intertidal zone (where sea meets land which is underwater during high tide and exposed during low tide). There were lots of sea stars too. Before we left for our hotel, the kids let the crabs go.
The resort they booked for us is beach front with swimming pool and features rock formations.
This is in Casa Casolares, Bolinao, Pangasinan, Philippines.
Upon arrival, we went to the rock formation which is also a view deck.
The way leading to the rock formation.
Since it was already afternoon, it was low tide.
A view of the resort from the rock formation
The brown and green are rocks covering the seafloor. The round spot is a lagoon.
These photos are taken from the top of the rock formations. It was in the afternoon and it was low tide so one can see the rocks covering the sea floor.
This area is covered with water in the morning or during high tide. So one can only walk along this area on low tides, usually the afternoon.
These are sea urchins and some seaweeds. I took this when I walked along the rock formation during low tide.
After some afternoon walks along the rock formations, we enjoyed swimming in the lagoon.
The water was really clean and warm. While swimming, one can also see fishes swimming along. But it was so hard to catch them. They swim so quick!
This is just a sneak peek of our vacation in Bolinao.
I hope one day, we can go back there and stay a little longer to visit more of what Bolinao can offer.
