After some time, I've decided to return to this series that evoke and aim to pay homage to certain pillars within the history of visual arts. D-Constructions is an attempt to redefine those concepts that drive my imagination toward an understanding of the artistic phenomenon and the appropriation of diverse codes in service of my expression.
In this case, I'm showing a study of a lamp, whose structure I found tremendously attractive and immediately reminded me of one of the greatest influences I've had in my work as a lighting designer: Dan Flavin.
Flavin was a representative of the minimalist movement boom during the 20th century and a pioneer of the readymade technique in an act of daily defiance against the conventions of traditional visual arts. For him, the spatial definition was concentrated on the presence of fluorescent light as a significant material substance and actor.
Dan Flavin's utilitarian object, within the context of his installation sculpture, manifested itself through its brilliance, undermining its physical presence as it approached and projected itself into the space. Its lights engaged the viewer in a transcendent bodily experience, despite the inescapable presence of the light source, which contradicted the ideal experience.
Taking this into consideration, I base my photographic proposal on a kind of two-dimensional wink in the creation of a pseudo-space, entirely perceptible, within a space already being created by the lamp's own bulbs. It's about showing that other reality captured by the mobile phone's lens, prompting other interpretations, promoting that other vision so necessary for a work to be understood as art: the viewer's.

En este caso muestro un estudio sobre una lámpara, cuya estructura me resultó tremendamente atractiva y me recordó, de inmediato, a uno de los mayores referentes que he tenido dentro de mi trabajo como diseñadora de iluminación: Dan Flavin.
Flavin fue representante del boom de la corriente minimalista durante el pasado siglo XX y quien impulsó la técnica del readymade en un acto de desafío cotidiano a las convenciones de las artes plásticas tradicionales. Para él la definición espacial se concentraba en la presencia de la luz fluorescente como sustancia y actor material significante.
El objeto utilitario de Dan Flavin, dentro de la escultura instalativa se manifestaba a través del brillo, dando al traste con su presencia física al aproximarse y proyectarse hacia el espacio. Sus luces comprometían al espectador en una experiencia corporal trascendente, a pesar de la presencia ineludible de la fuente luminosa en contradicción con la experiencia ideal.
Tomando esto en consideración es que sustento mi propuesta fotográfica, una suerte de guiño bidimensional en la creación de un pseudoespacio, enteramente perceptivo, dentro de un espacio que ya las propias bujías de la lámpara están creando. Se trata de mostrar esa otra realidad capturada por el lente del móvil, suscitar otras lecturas, promover esa otra visión que es tan necesaria a una obra para que se entienda artística: la del espectador.
Espero despertar su interés y que mi propuesta les lleve por caminos diversos, acaso provocativos.
