Greetings, Everyone.
The semi-final and much-awaited final of the night cricket tournament at our colony ground took place on February 18th. In my last post, I shared some thrilling moments from the group stage, along with my thoughts on the tournament. Today, I’ll talk about the final matches and how this event became so popular in our colony.
The crowd seemed even larger on the final day. Along with locals, many spectators from surrounding areas gathered to witness the matches. The excitement of young cricket fans was particularly noticeable, as several children eagerly enjoyed the game.
Although our colony team didn’t make it to the semi-finals, they won the audience’s hearts with their performance. With our team out, I decided to support another team from our town that included players I had played cricket with before. I was excited to watch their semi-final match.
My favorite team played exceptionally well, both in batting and bowling. Unfortunately, they lost the semi-final by just four runs. Their batting was strong, but they lost momentum in the final over, costing them the match by a narrow margin.
Despite the loss, they stood out as the only team from our town to reach the semis, which was a proud achievement. Cricket is a game of uncertainty, and this match was a rollercoaster. At times, it felt like my team had the win secured, while in other moments, it seemed their opponents would take the victory.
The commentator made such a tense and exciting match more interesting through his commentary. I liked the scoreboard of the tournament. Such scoreboards are not usually seen in local tournaments. I felt that more spectators had come to the field than on other days to watch the final match of this 3-day short pitch night cricket tournament. Before the final match, the invited chief guest was present on the field.
The final was played between two teams from Nilphamari and Badarganj. The Nilphamari team won the tournament. Considering the distance they traveled to participate, their dedication was commendable. Overall, it was a fantastic tournament. The young organizers from our colony did a great job in putting it all together. I hope this tournament becomes an annual event in our colony. It will surely inspire the next generation to take an interest in cricket.
