I was searching for destinations for a weekend getaway, when I stumbled into some memories that go back almost 10 years, when I visit one of my favourite european capitals: Budapest.

The city is filled with gems: monuments, churches, art, and even beautiful castles overlooking the Danube flowing by, separating the two parts of the city, Buda and Pest.
The parliament definitely stands out, also facing the river; it's huge!
But even the small thing are a wonder to the eye: the little princess statue, for instance. It does live up to its name, and you can easily miss it even if you walk nearby! Since I'm not an arts person, I did found it by accident, and only later found out what I had seen!
The people are also friendly (and the woman are incredibly beautiful!), and I remember there were some great markets to explore as well.
My favourite to do in Budapest, though? Visit some of the amazing thermal baths the city has to offer! Bathing in a beautiful setting in open air, soaking in warm water while the outside is freaking cold? Pure bliss!

You might be wondering why did I chose "Balances" as the title. Well, because in this #monomad flashback, I remember I didn't stay as long in the city as I had antecipated. You see, I loved the city, but I'm a nature guy! And after three days, I escaped to a getaway near lake Balaton, into a small town called Tihany. A train ride away from the capital, and the balance I needed. Because surrounding Tihany, nature was waiting for me.

Hiking trails crossing beautiful forests, just what I needed to contrast with the bubbling city.
Even smallers lakes than the Balaton, and a whole array of wildlife in the whereabouts. Birds all around, and a ton of very cool lizards! I wasn't explecting to see so many, since reptiles are not that easily spotted.

A couple days here were the nature fix I needed, before heading back to Budapest for a couple more days.

Balance is the key! ;)
