Squirrels can climb with ease; I think a large part of their existence is spent climbing up and down things. This squirrel was one that I witnessed going up this tree only to climb down a moment later, wandering a bit, then going back up the tree then down the tree. This must have happened a dozen times in the course of ten minutes. Imagine taking the elevator down from your apartment, stepping outside briefly, then going back up again before deciding it was time to go downstairs and wander. Then changing your mind to go back up—it's an interesting behavior to watch. I wonder if it gets to the bottom then forgets why it came down and does the same thing upon getting back to its nest.
