Recently, I posted about how we waited for the rest of the family to get ready for our trip under the pomelo tree and when they arrived, we immediately started traveling towards Kumaykay river.
I coudl not remember how many motorcycle we used but there were two tricabs; one rented and one owned by my brother in law.
The sky showed signs of nice weather that day and the clouds were like marshmallows above in the sky. That was on the New year's day and not many vehicles were traveling.
When we reached to Camp Phillips, we waited for the teens to arrive but we were informed that Dimple and his boyfriend got a flat tire and were still on a vulcanizing shop seeking for help.
I took my time taking photos on the Giant pineapple land mark but then the elders decided that Sandra would wait for them and we go ahead.
Camp Phillips and above it had a different weather and I took my jacket off to feel the wind and the sun's warmth on my skin.
We rode along endless roads that seems to go on forever but the surroundings were not scary at all since there were vast pineapple plantations on the left and right side of the road.
We made a stop on a creek whose water seems sparkling clean and the husband jokes that we have arrived and it is where we are going to bathe. We waited for one of hubby's sister who had been to the river many times.
And I thought o myself: It'll do.
After the stop, we traveled for a few more minutes of uphill and downhill and there lies the beautiful Kumaykay river on in between the two mountains. The excited kids immediately went in the water while I stood and check on their safety all the time.
Some members of the family prepared for food; they grilled fish on the river side while others are already enjoying the ice cold water.
My father in law checking the surroundings
While to us, the river felt very special, we saw some of the residents, the whole family washing their clothes in the river.
The water is ice-cold; really cold and I had second thoughts on jumping in till my husband went and invited me over. Soaking my feet to the water makes it feel like it was being poked by needles. No wonder most of the people climbs upon a rock after their dip
Where we bathe does not belong to a resort; in fact it was a public place and just a little above the bridge yet the locals arranged the stones and made pools in the river. The deepest part were on my up to the waist of a grown up and is safe for kids to play.
It was a holiday and there were too many people that was on the river yet water on the river remained clean
We had lunch not long after and the sky started to look gloomy. My kids had enough of the cold water and decided to change clothes and get warm. And just as they left the water, the fun had yet started. My father in law decided to join in the water and the silly kids played splash against him. Even though they were all wet already, they still feel cold when the splash of water comes to them.
It was so much fun!
Then the dark clouds came and rained upon us all. Those who just came and cooked food were not able to finish their cooking and got frustrated and went home.
Since we had to rice on a motorcycle, I secured our gadgets and got the kids on a tricab for safety. And just like I did not change clothes at all because the rain got me wet again while we were still on site and it was just 2 in the afternoon.
Sadly, we had to protect our gadgets and we traveled home without capturing the beautiful surroundings covered in fog.
We had so much fun on our experience that hubby and I decided we would come back with my side of family and other friends. I hope that will happen one day.
Now that I know the place and how things work there, we might be much more prepared on our next visit.
Till my next blog, see ya!
