Hello my loving Asean Hive community,
Welcome back from my small garden blog. What is the weather like where you live? It rained where I live for the past 2 days. Although the weather is nice these days, there is still a bit of a winter chill left. It's been raining the past few days, so I don't need to water my plants, so I haven't been out in the backyard for 2 days. So today I picked some vegetables from the backyard with my dad.
The name of the fruit that I picked with my father today is 'Chayote squash'. Years ago, I helped my father plant trees in his backyard because I had free time. Last year, when my father was planting Chayote squash plants, I was so sick that I couldn't help my father. However, now I am very healthy. So I can help my father when harvesting the fruits.
How many varieties of Chayote squash have you seen? I have two varieties of Chayote squash fruit growing in my yard. As you can see in the picture, the first one is dark green and the shells are smooth. The second type is light green and its shape is slightly similar to a pear. The light green shells sometimes have sharp. The taste of these two types is also slightly different. The taste of the light green fruit is sweet, while the taste of the dark green fruit is slightly weak tasting. The size is also larger in light green.
My father has Chayote squash vines growing on the fence in the backyard. So when the fruit ripens, it grows on the fence. In some places it is easy to pick, but in other places it is difficult to pick because it is too high. For those fruits that are in very high places, my father uses a long stick to make the fruits fall down.
I pick up the fruits that fall to the ground and put them in a bag. Today, we received about 60 Chayote squash.
We left the Chayote squash that had sprouted from the fruit in the ground to replant as new plants. That's it for today. Thank you very much for reading my post to the end. Bye Bye. See you in the next post.
