Hello my loving Asean Hive community,
Warmly welcome back from my new nature post. How is it going guys? Is everything OK? A week ago, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck our country, causing many casualties and destruction of buildings. There is no concrete evidence where I live. However, the youth in our town are planning to help other affected towns. Young people are holding a concert in the city center and raising funds to help earthquake-stricken cities. Today my friend and I went there to donate some money and then went to a nearby plant shop on the way back.
The plant shop I went to today wasn't a big plant shop. It was a small plant shop selling small plants on the side of the market street. In our country, mesua ferrea flowers usually bloom in summer. I have a mesua ferrea plant at home, but it hasn't bloomed yet. So I thought about buying a mesua ferrea plant with mesua ferrea flowers. That small plant shop had mesua ferrea plants and the prices were very cheap, so I thought about buying them at that plant shop.
My town is a town that borders China. So not only food, but many things are imported from China, including plants. So many plants in the plant shop in my town are imported from China. Many of the plants sold at this plant shop are not like that. Many of the plants sold at this plant shop are imported from central Myanmar. That is why the prices of the plants are also cheap.
The plant shop owner, Uncle, was a friend of my father's, so he explained the plants to us very well. He said that he only brought a few plants because there was only a small space to sell them in the market, and that he had many plants at home. He also invited me to come and see the plants at his house on a certain day.
I think most of the plants he sells are grafted plants. As shown above, the plants are small and even have fruit. The plant I show above is an orange tree. That orange tree is already bearing small oranges.
The name of the flower I showed above is petrea flower. In Burmese, that flower is called 'Khin Lay Ssat Ssat Tong'.
Today I bought a mesua ferrea tree. The mesua ferrea tree I bought is a branched tree, so it has flowers already, but the tree is still small. The mesua ferrea tree I chose has only one flower, but many buds. It cost me 22,000 Myanmar kyats for that small tree. 22,000MMK is equal about $4.50.
I bought another plant besides the mesua ferrea tree. That plant is called 'Kyauk Khat Pin' in Burmese, but I don't know what it is called in English. I have shown a picture of that plant above. What is that plant called in your area?
That's all for today. Thank you all very much for reading my post to the end. See you in the new post. Bye Bye. 🍇
