The past few days have been quite heavy for me. I got busy with things at home and, sadly, I got sick again. Because of that, I wasn’t able to blog and share updates here. There were moments when my body felt weak and my mind felt tired too. But today, I’m feeling better and I’m truly grateful for that. So now, I’m back, and I want to share how we spent our simple yet meaningful Christmas Eve as a family. ☺️❤️
After attending the Christmas Eve Mass, we went straight home to prepare for our noche buena. The Mass itself already gave me peace and reminded me of the true meaning of Christmas which is love, humility, and gratitude. Everything else that followed felt lighter because my heart was already full. ❤️☺️🙏
Our noche buena was very simple. We didn’t have a grand feast or expensive dishes. What we had were simple foods that could fill our tummy and something we could happily share as a family. And honestly, that was more than enough. ❤️
I made puto cheese and chocolate puto. While making them, I was already feeling tired, but I was also happy. There’s something comforting about preparing food for the people you love, especially during Christmas. The kitchen may be small, the ingredients simple, but the effort and intention behind it are full of love. ❤️
We also had carbonara. It was a bit short on sauce, but it was still delicious because it was made with love by my sister-in-law. We laughed about it and joked that next time, we’ll add more sauce. It didn’t matter at all because what mattered was that we were all eating together. 🤭
There was also fish fillet that my sister-in-law fried while I was busy making the puto. Seeing everyone help each other in the kitchen reminded me how teamwork at home makes everything easier and more joyful. ☺️
We also had fried fish, freshly caught by my parents and my brother. Knowing that the fish came straight from their hard work made it even more special. Simple food really tastes better when you know the story behind it. ❤️
I also prepared a vegetable salad made of cucumber, carrots, onion, tomato, and tuna. I just added salt, ground pepper, mayonnaise, and sweet pickles to balance the taste. It wasn’t fancy, but it was fresh and healthy, and everyone enjoyed it. ❤️
We didn’t have pork or chicken on the table. The only meat we had was sliced sweet ham that I bought from the market, plus some ham mixed into the carbonara. Surprisingly, my nieces and nephew loved the sweet ham so much. Seeing them happy made me smile, and I’m thinking of adding that again to our New Year’s Eve menu. ☺️
We had a limited budget, so our noche buena was truly simple. But I realized once again that Christmas is not about how much food is on the table. It’s about being together, sharing what you have, and being grateful for the blessings you receive either big or small. 🙏❤️
That night, despite being tired and recently sick, my heart felt light. I was thankful for life, for family, and for the chance to celebrate Christmas together at home. ❤️🙏
