My wife once told me that when she was a kid, she and her buddies used to climb these trenggulun trees on the hill near her place. Even nowadays, when she talks about it, she's back in her childhood, remembering the sweet and sour taste of those little marble-sized fruits.
In one afternoon, finally, had the chance to visit Mr. Putu's house (same name like me) who live in Gondol Villge. He was the one to show us (me and relatives of my wife) to hike a hill near by his house to find trenggulun fruit. It was 5 PM and the sun was shining in the west just above the hill that we were about to hike.

We walked across Mr. Putu's farm and spotted some cows in their barns. A dog was lounging in the middle of the grass, completely uninterested in us.

After passing the farm, we reached a dry stream and crossed it. On the other side of the stream was the hill where the trenggulun trees grow. It took us five minutes to climb the hill, and there they were, the trenggulun trees.

Mr. Putu climbed a trenggulun tree and cut few branches. The branches fell down to the ground. I rushed to get the branches with bunches of trenggulun fruits. I was so eager to know what these fruits looked like from close.

We tried some fruits as we harvested them from those branches. All of the family relatives that come with me enjoyed the trenggulun. My curiosity got bigger wanting to try these "special" fruit.

These fruits were small. Little bit smaller than cherry, but they had maroon colors or black. These where the color when they were ripe. Before that, they are green in colors.

When I tried the fruit, the first thing that I tasted was sweetness. Inside the fruite, was soft with hard little date inside. This date was a little but sour but refreshing. Some how, I also taste a mint taste. So, in short, the taste of this fruit was a commbination of sweetnes and sourness with a kick of mint sensation. Well, this fruit taste great, I think it's good for snacking or dessert.
