Today, we woke up late and rushed to school and work. The reason? Last night, I was watching a movie with my headset on before bed, but I fell asleep without unplugging it from my phone. So, the alarm went off, but we didn't hear it! Haha! Luckily, we weren’t too late for work because my wife didn’t cook as usual before leaving, so we didn't have time for breakfast at home and had to head straight to work.
What really caught my attention this morning was the beautiful sky! At first, there were some fluffy white clouds, but then they gathered to create a split in the sky, one part white and the other blue! Normally, when I see these patchy clouds, it means the weather will be hot, so I thought it might be a warm day. But then again, the weather has been hard to predict lately.
For the past few weeks, our kids have been taking turns being sick with fevers, coughs, and colds. Today, Rex's fever was worrying, so we didn’t send him to school because there was sports day. Early this morning, we planned to send him to his grandma’s place to rest. But surprise, his grandma had already gone to town early with grandpa. Long story short, Rex ended up coming with me to work. Thankfully, his fever didn't get worse at the office, though he was coughing more. We brought his asthma inhaler and some medicine for him. We plan to take him to a private clinic after work.
It was really sunny and hot today. The 45 km drive to the clinic from work was smooth, except near town where traffic started getting heavy. Luckily, we found parking easily. My wife took Rex to the clinic while I went to pick up some online purchases. The town was crowded, and so was the clinic. Rex’s appointment was an hour and a half after they registered. There were a lot of kids with similar symptoms, fever, cough, and cold. The doctor said it’s important to drink a lot of water and stay healthy during this season. Thankfully, Rex just had a normal fever and cough, with no worries about his asthma. So, we felt really grateful for that. I also took a few pictures at the school where I work. Then, around noon, when I went to pick up my younger child from school, I saw Eiona walking out of the school gate by herself because she spotted me waiting for her from a distance.
My wife has also been complaining about frequent headaches since we went on a school trip last weekend. We stopped by our kids' favorite restaurant, but unfortunately, it was closed. She wanted to rest early today, which is why we were hoping to eat there, but we had to head back instead. On the way home, we witnessed a car accident right in front of us. It was a painful sight to see. Some people stopped to help the victims, and they would be the witnesses when the police arrived. We had to move on to avoid causing more traffic jam in the area. It was a double line area, and a car from our side tried to overtake and collided with a car coming from the opposite direction. I saw several people in the car that was overtaking, including a baby! Both cars were badly damaged, with airbags deployed. It was heartbreaking to see. Thankfully, the baby was safely pulled out, and everyone in the car was okay.
When we got home, I was shocked to see a message in our work WhatsApp group that one of our colleague's wife was involved in the accident. According to the message, the baby was slightly injured but was still waiting for medical tests. We were all in shock and sent prayers for the family involved. We hope the baby is okay and there are no serious injuries. We’re praying for everything to go smoothly for their family.
