Good Day, Hiverians!
Hey everyone!
Today, I want to share with you my experience from last weekend. It was a time full of new adventures, peaceful moments, and unforgettable memories. I had the chance to connect with nature, spend time with friends, and try something I’ve never done before. So, let me take you through how it all unfolded!
What a day! What a journey—fulfilling and satisfying, surrounded by a peaceful environment, a calm ocean, and a beautiful sunset.
Before we settled down, I took a quick shot of the peaceful ocean and its beautiful view. Nature has always been very close to my heart. That’s how it all started—when I began to appreciate the beauty of embracing nature. I love walking early in the morning, taking in the quiet and peaceful surroundings. It has a great positive impact on me, and that’s when I truly started to appreciate nature.
It was a fine Saturday afternoon. We had our Bible study at the church, and after that, our youth pastor and his wife planned to go fishing, which I wasn’t included in, along with the other youth. On my side, it felt like I missed the bonding we had before with Ate Jean, our discipler. So, I suggested going to a hill called Cabantian Hills. It’s a well-known place for its amazing overlooking view, calm surroundings, and peaceful environment. Maybe in my next blog, I’ll share it here.
Anyway, since our youth pastor had already planned to go fishing, we decided to join them, as I had never experienced fishing before. So, here we go!
Before heading to the fishing spot, we bought vegetable balls (similar to fish balls), kwek-kwek (quail eggs), and chicken intestines from one of the famous street food vendors here.
You can see here that they were preparing their fishing tools while we were busy preparing food to eat before heading to the ocean.
Matti also had his own fishing rod, just like his father. The main reason why Kuya spends his time fishing is because of his son, who loves it too.
It was great that we had someone who also loves to catch fish with us—he’s one of the youths in the church, the bassist in the music team. He was the one who suggested this place for fishing, saying that there are a lot of fish here.
This is Ate Shane, one of the young adults in the church and one of our companions. By the way, the person I’m referring to as "The Bassist" is her brother. Their father is actually a fisherman. So, while taking pictures of the sunset, I captured a photo of her, embracing the beautiful sunset.
As we arrived at this large, separated stone to set up our fishing rods, I asked Ate Jean to take a photo of us with Ate Shane, with the beautiful sunset in the background. Seeing it really touched me. It felt like I was meditating while we waited out there to catch fish. The bassist caught three small fish, and we were all surprised and happy. It was my first time experiencing it, and it was such a beautiful feeling.
Moving on, there was a spot that was so beautiful to sit and feel the calmness of the ocean while embracing the stunning view of the sunset. It was a little bit dangerous because it was on top of a rock, but I managed to do it. Without hesitation, since Ate Jean had an iPhone, I asked her once again to take a picture of me. When I saw the result, it was truly amazing.
Later on, as we were about to head home, I took a photo from the top with the sunset still in view.
When we arrived at the bottom, we saw many fishermen in their boats, using lights and nets to catch tiny transparent fish, or fish fry.
In conclusion, I can say that having this kind of bonding is truly a blessing. It’s a wonderful way to escape the noise of the world. Taking time to step away, do what you love, and explore what’s around you might reveal something new and exciting waiting for you. It was an incredible experience—one that was truly worth it. Sometimes, all we need is a moment of peace to discover the beauty around us.
That’s all for my weekend experience! I hope it inspires everyone to embrace the little moments and find peace in the simple things. 🌅
