Harvesting in the family garden

in HiveGarden4 days ago

Greetings, dear readers. Today I am going to tell you about the vegetable garden we have in the garden of my parents' house.

The economic situation of the family has been very difficult due to the rise in prices, and the purchasing power has decreased because the little income we receive from our salaries as public employees is not enough to cover the expenses for basic needs, and the most important one is food.

I was always thinking about different strategies to reduce expenses and common sense led me to agriculture, eating food that we harvest is to take care of our health. That is why I decided to plant some crops in a field located in the house that our parents left us, we conditioned the soil with compost, dry leaves, natural urea and water with fresh fish blood. This step is very important for the soil to be fertile, after that we planted banana, lechoza or papaya, eggplant, lemon, guavas, cassava, peppers, cherimoyas and tomatoes.

When we sow we always aspire to reap a good harvest, however, it is difficult to ensure it because there are vicissitudes that arise such as fungus attacks, ants, candelilla, excessive rains and, on many occasions, drought or lack of water for irrigation. However, I do not allow the conditions of my region to become an obstacle, I look for ways to solve the inconveniences.

I can affirm with all conviction that we have enjoyed blessed harvests such as pink and white guava, great lemons, bunches of cambures, lechoza. Very delicious fruits that we share with the family, always better enjoyed when we remember the effort behind the harvest.

The work becomes a little more complicated because we don't have direct piping to the plants and I have to fill up buckets and then transfer the water to the plants, some of which are far away, but the physical effort is worth it to see the plants thrive. We are currently waiting to harvest tomatoes, which will be wonderful, it feels great to harvest vegetables as well.

The best thing about all this is that the fruits and vegetables we harvest are one hundred percent healthy, free of chemicals or other substances harmful to the body. So we consume them with total confidence. We never sell the crops, we help the whole family and the occasional neighbor. We learned this spirit of solidarity from our parents, who were always at the service of others, and that is why they also received help on some occasions.

It is good to emphasize that planting produces good health and environmental benefits, and when generosity enters as a protagonist it is vital for family and neighborhood relationships. In the community we have good relations with all the inhabitants, so much so that we have enjoyed their harvests, for example mango, loquat, guavas, parchitas, peppers and onions.

Harvesting not only has an impact in the economic field, because obviously we save money by not having to buy those fruits or vegetables, but it is also a great satisfaction to achieve it with your effort, sacrifice and dedication. Similarly, some family members have joined this project and have been a great support to me, I constantly say that the union brings excellent results and here you can see a sample of it.
