Hello and welcome back to my blog!
I was getting scorched in Caelid as the pot-headed machine frustrated me, so I went back to Limgrave to see which parts I missed there. I remembered an NPC told me to go to the Dragon Communion Island, but there seemed to be an ocean separating it. And even though I can slay mighty beasts and dragons, I can't seem to swim in the game. (Probably it is cursed water or something, who knows?)
It was just the southern beach of the Limgrave. A starting area that I didn't check thoroughly. There was a cave where I found a familiar face, a skinny guy lying scared in the cave. I think this was the same guy who once stood as a bush, and I had to attack it to get it back to this form. Poor guy. He seemed to be traumatised by the demi-humans inside this cave.
He advised me to run away, but why would I run away from a fight (not before they kill me over and over for 20 times straight lol). The best part was that there was a summoning thing where you could summon a knight. He helped me a lot in this battle against the dual boss.
It was an easy fight. Seems like I skipped this area before, so now it feels much easier. If I had come directly here, most likely I would have if I hadn't missed this little cave, it would have been tough. But now, it felt quite easy.
This gave me items like a sewing kit and a needle, which can be used to alter the properties of a garment. But I am not touching it right now, don't want to make my armour worse lol.
And the best part is that the cave is like an underground tunnel that opens up on the other island. So, that's the thing I was missing. I thought it would be some sort of a portal or something, but nope, just a game next to the island.
I had a dragon heart, which I placed on the altar and got Dragonfire, which I can't even use because of my build lol. I still bought it... at least now I know that Dragon Heart is not that useful lol.
It was time to get back... I was just exploring and collecting some raw crafting materials, and all of a sudden, a new boss popped up. A Deathbird! It killed me very quickly while I was still trying to observe its moves. When I came back to collect my runes here, they were not there.
I am not sure what triggered it to spawn at that time. I went right there and it didn't come. Now, looking at the screenshots, I think it might be because of the time? Maybe it spawns only at night. I might have to go back to this area and test it.
I spent a lot of time trying to reach a fort that looked like it was close, but upon reaching there, it was on another hill that I couldn't find an entrance to. This happens a lot to me, the map is very vertical (which I appreciate) and there are specific areas where you can enter a place and exit etc.
Witnessed a battle between living soldiers and their dead counterparts. Ghost won that little battle, but that victory was short-lived as I went and ruined their celebrations.
But they had a big unit with them and I realised quickly that it was gonna be risky picking up fight with that guy. I used the tactics of running as fast as I could in the opposite direction from the giant. It seems to work very well, and they give up after a while.
I spent the next hour fighting a knight in shiny armour. He had a big sword and shield, and I underestimated his powers a lot. My sword was doing little damage against his armour and on top of that he was using some magic voodoo sh*t on me. Bro was throwing lightning at me, and those attacks were not even blockable with my shield.
I tried and tried and tried again, but to no avail. This was when I knew I needed a break from all this dying and to go explore more. I doubt he even drops a good item that I can use with my current stats.
I was right to leave the guy and go somewhere else; otherwise, how would I get to experience this cool boss? This is a weird boss fight where this boss just calmly rows a boat in this little lake while a lot of skeletons rise up to fight us.
It doesn't even chase you and gets just a few attacks with low range. Not too tanky as well. Those skeletons are annoying, but nothing you can't deal with. I got 'deathroot' (not sure what to do with it) and a new spirit to aid me in my battles.
Just a skeleton with not much health. It might be useful somewhere just because of its resurrection property, otherwise, I don't see much use for it. It doesn't deal a lot of damage and has low health, too. My knight is way better than this skeleton.
I am starting to enjoy the game more (barring some frustrating encounters), but have no clue which direction to go, so I am just going to places I have not been to or going back to places that I missed. It is a big map, and every corner of it feels like something important that I can easily miss.
