I've been playing Golem Overlord for a number of months now but still consider myself a bit of a noob. I've developed a routine of game play, which seems to work, but I'm wondering if there is a better approach that will work even better.
So I thought I would share what I do, and see if there are any recommendations or tips that come through via comments that might help me do even better.
3 claims per day
So my routine centres around making about 3 claims per day:
- First thing when I wake up in the morning (so I will have my claim period set to 8 hours)
- When I get home from work (with my claim period still at 8 hours),
- I then change my claim period to 4 hours in order to fit in another claim in the evening before going to bed.
- After that last claim, I then reset my claim period back to 8 hours for overnight.
I havent unlocked the longer 12 hour claim option yet - but am working on it.
Routine per claim
Then for each claim I run through the same process:
- I undertake battles,
- I make the claim,
- I check my quests and then spend my PARTS and COMP on upgrades, taking account of any quests I want to land - but also making sure that I always buy more new scavenger golems than got worn out from the claim, and I also dump an amount of PARTS into reputation so that it is always clocking up too.
I describe each of these steps in the following sections.
Battles
- I always leave my battles to just right before I claim, such that I hope I'm then claiming the max amount of parts and shards that I can (ie, before someone else can get another hit in on me).
I got to the battle screen and do the following:
- I use the search facility and enter an upper fortification level (only) where I can normally beat the opponents that come up. Thats around level 37 at the moment, and search on that.
- I then sort by stash size (high to low),
- I then then see whats on offer and pick down the larger stashes (second column on the right), where I've got atleast and 80-100% chance of winning, and use up all of my battle energy (if you hover over the axe symbol it will tell you your win chance).
I more often than not win all of the battles, and the searching and sorting helps to maximise my gains from those.
Claim and upgrades
I then make the claim then plan my upgrades:
- I always replenish my scavenger golems first. I always replace more than got damaged in the last claim, by around 20-30 at the moment - so that my golem numbers are always increasing in order to generate more PARTS/COMP between each claim,
- I then usually drop 20 into reputation. I think its important to always keep working towards the highest level I can get to due to the bonuses that offers, so this is quite important. I've only started doing this recently, and wished I had been doing it longer,
- I then check what daily quests are on offer and if there is something I'm interested in (eg, power, scavenger golems, fortification, faith, charging stations or reputation). I dont let the quests dictate what I spend on, but will let it influence that because I might as well collect atleast the XP payout from quests, even if I dont want to spend shards for the other items from the quests (I havent quite worked out if they are worth it yet). Latterly I have been putting more into power which helps with the battle part of my routine.
At this point while I'm building up I mostly reinvest all PARTS and COMP back into the game. I do also keep some back and dump it into my guild bunker as part of my weekly contribution. I will extract and sell some PARTS on the market now and again to help with purchases of other layer-2s and the like, but I dont do that often at the moment.
Summary
So thats my general routine in Golem Overlord. As said, I dont think its optimised, and could be better, so if anyone has any advice or tips, then I'm all ears. Thats what this post was intended for - to help me get better.
