I was looking to figure out where we did a braai when we were in Suid-Afrika but I have absolutely no clue. So will just go share a picture of some corn on a bbq this time.
Will see if I can somehow track it down though. Have some great memories of these braai with die 'volkspele'!

hahahaha... Mieliepap/mieliemeal is a "staple" amongst the poorer communities (throughout most of africa actually not just here in SA)... in fact, if I'm not mistaken there's no VAT (TAX) charged on buying & selling.
It's similar to polenta (Italy) or grits (America)... but made with white corn instead of yellow.
P.S. At a braai, we'll traditionally serve it with a tomato & onion gravy. A lot of Capetonians don't eat mieliepap either... but that's just because they don't know how to make good mieliepap

I have traveled around Pretoria, in my memories it was 'pure' mieliepap, thought it's already been a couple of years, so not sure if anything was added
