El fin de semana ha sido bastante especial, se juntó el final del mes de febrero, el inicio del mes de marzo y la celebración de las fiestas de carnavales. Y si esto no es suficiente, también coincidió con el cumpleaños número cuarenta de mi amigo de la infancia, el popular Lalito, que lleva por nombre Larry. Un personaje en todo el sentido de la palabra dentro de las fronteras del barrio Bella Vista, en Barquisimeto, estada Lara - Venezuela.

This weekend has been quite special, the end of February, the beginning of March and the celebration of the carnival festivities. And if this is not enough, it also coincided with the fortieth birthday of my childhood friend, the popular Lalito, who goes by the name of Larry. A character in every sense of the word within the borders of the Bella Vista neighborhood, in Barquisimeto, Lara State - Venezuela.

Cuando llegué a la cita, ya la partida había comenzado. Llegué 30 minutos luego de lo acordado y ya estaban jugando el amigo Jesús versus el amigo Larry. En esta ocasión la cita estaba pautada solo para tres y sería parte de la celebración del cumpleaños que se terminaría de celebrar en la casa del festejado.

When I arrived at the appointment, the game had already started. I arrived 30 minutes later than agreed and my friend Jesus versus my friend Larry were already playing. This time the date was scheduled for only three and it would be part of the birthday celebration that would be finished at the birthday party's house.

La rivalidad ya estaba en la primera mesa de pool, dentro del club los Cardones, que cuenta con una capacidad de 25 mesas de pool y 3 de billar. No quería importunar el duelo que se estaba dando entre los dos, así que me dediqué a documentar las acciones que se iban desarrollando. Hasta que de alguno de ellos saliera una invitación a mi persona sincera. En realidad, ellos van más seguido, debido a que ahora mismo yo estoy residenciado fuera del barrio, a pocos kilómetros de distancia, pero que, sin embargo, marca la diferencia para estar o no a tiempo cuando nos ponemos de acuerdo.

The rivalry was already at the first pool table, inside the Los Cardones club, which has a capacity of 25 pool tables and 3 billiard tables. I did not want to disturb the duel that was taking place between the two, so I dedicated myself to document the actions that were developing. Until one of them came out with a sincere invitation to me. Actually, they go more often, due to the fact that right now I am residing outside the neighborhood, a few kilometers away, but that, nevertheless, makes the difference to be or not to be on time when we agree.

En el pasado esta era una atracción que no podía faltar entre nosotros, todos los fines de semana al menos teníamos que venir un día. Generalmente, los viernes, cuando comenzaban los días de "descanso laboral", la cita no tenía que ser formal, ya sabíamos que el encuentro sería en este lugar tan popular de la ciudad. Tenemos dudas por qué fue el motivo de habernos alejado de estas instas instalaciones, la primera opción es que la economía cambió y ya no es suficiente para venir a gastar aquí o que las responsabilidades ya son otras con la familia y el tiempo cada vez se hace más corto. La diatriba está ahí y solo son todas meras suposiciones e hipótesis.

In the past this was an attraction that could not be missed among us, every weekend we had to come at least one day. Generally, on Fridays, when the days of “work rest” began, the appointment did not have to be formal, we already knew that the meeting would be in this popular place of the city. The first option is that the economy has changed and it is no longer enough to come and spend here, or that the responsibilities are different with the family and time is getting shorter and shorter. The diatribe is there and they are all mere suppositions and hypotheses.

Lo cierto es que cuando queremos elegir un sitio común para todos en el barrio, este es el indicado. A pesar de que ya la gran mayoría de los amigos de la cuadra están fuera del país, algunos están en Europa, otros están en el sur de América y otros se encuentran hacia el norte. En otrora, podíamos jugar en equipos de 2 versus 2, en la actualidad nos conformamos con las rivalidades individuales.

The truth is that when we want to choose a common place for everyone in the neighborhood, this is the right one. Although most of the friends on the block are already out of the country, some are in Europe, others are in the south of America and others are in the north. In the past, we could play in teams of 2 versus 2, nowadays we settle for individual rivalries.

Siempre hemos sido bien recibidos en el club los Cardones. Es un negocio familiar que fue comenzado por el abuelo, el señor Edgar, ya retirado desde hace varios años. Desde entonces la administración está a cargo del amigo "Choco" y que suponemos que pronto debería pasar la batuta a su hijo. Quien en un tiempo estuvo apoyándolo con toda lo que significa la atención dentro del local, sin embargo, desde hace un buen tiempo no se le ve la cara, supongo que está enfocado en otras cosas, lo cual da pie a pensar que el relevo está en dudas en estas primeras de cambio. Esto definitivamente es una especulación y solo el tiempo tiene respuesta para estas cosas.

We have always been well received at the Cardones Club. It is a family business that was started by our grandfather, Mr. Edgar, who has been retired for several years. Since then the administration is in charge of the friend “Choco” and we suppose that soon he should pass the baton to his son. Who at one time was supporting him with all that means the attention within the local, however, for a long time we do not see his face, I guess he is focused on other things, which leads us to think that the relief is in doubt in these first change. This is definitely speculation and only time has an answer for these things.

La pasamos bastante bien, acompañamos a nuestro amigo en su fecha especial, él es bastante sensible para estas cosas, quizá hasta un poco rencoroso al momento de recordar quienes lo han acompañado en sus momentos importantes. Pero sabemos que en el fondo es una gran persona y pues agradecemos en todo momento la oportunidad de compartir la vida durante todos estos años. Deseando siempre que siga triunfando, que le siga yendo bien en el ámbito laboral y el familiar que ha logrado estabilizar luego de varios intentos.

We had a great time, we accompanied our friend on his special date, he is quite sensitive to these things, maybe even a little bit resentful at the time of remembering those who have accompanied him in his important moments. But we know that deep down he is a great person and we are grateful at all times for the opportunity to share his life during all these years. We always wish that he continues to succeed, that he continues to do well in his work and family life, which he has managed to stabilize after several attempts.
