The old bookstore at the end of the street had been closed for years—until today, when the yellowed newspapers that covered the window had disappeared, revealing once again the interior of the shop, where, to the mundane observer, only old books were piled up on the walls, like objects that only a collector could appreciate. But it was clear to the wizards that each of these volumes was a book of spells in which the owner had copied and studied for years the formulas and spells with which he had learned to manipulate the laws of the universe, so that there were as many variations of the same spell as there were wizards capable of casting it. In the end, all this knowledge ended up in old shops that opened from time to time to give apprentices the opportunity to get hold of an ancient grimoire and try to unravel its knowledge.

La antigua librería, al final de la calle, llevaba años cerrada hasta hoy, cuando los periódicos amarillentos que cubrían el escaparate habían desaparecido, dejando ver de nuevo el interior del local, donde, para el observador mundano, solo se amontonaban libros antiguos en las paredes, como objetos que solo podría apreciar un coleccionista. Pero para los magos estaba claro que cada uno de esos volúmenes era un libro de conjuros en el que su propietario había copiado y estudiado durante años las fórmulas y hechizos con los que había aprendido a manipular las leyes del universo, lo que hacía que hubiera tantas variaciones de un mismo hechizo como magos capaces de lanzarlo. Al final, todos esos conocimientos acababan en antiguas tiendas que abrían cada cierto tiempo para dar la oportunidad a los aprendices de hacerse con un antiguo grimorio e intentar desentrañar sus conocimientos.
