The latest Rebellion conflict has concluded and the new summoner, Lorkus, was released into the game. It seems like these new legendary Rebellion summoners were bound to disrupt the power scales as tactics abilities have significant effect to battles.
Lorkus merges Splinterlands' two most destructive splinters, Fire and Death. And it's fitting that it buffs melee and magic damage. Players can choose between two sets of abilities, Fury/Trample, and Affliction/Life Leech. And I think the latter is the more effective among the two.
Battle Against Lorkus
I recently had my first encounter with Lorkus while playing in the modern league. It was a 50-mana battle with FabFour rule set. You can check the battle here.
As I see Djinn Muirat and Tinderlock in the same lineup, I can imagine the future landscape of the game to be fun and chaotic. As expected, the opponent chose the Affliction/Life Leech tactic, bestowing it to the tank, Arkemis the Bear, and Tinderlock. It was a solid strategy, in my opinion.
I, on the other hand, chose Waka Spiritblade with a combination of Night Ghoul and Arachne Thug in the frontlines while Cabalist and Djinn Miurat provides magic support.
My RNG luck kicked in early as Cabalist's first attack inflicted poison to Arkemis. Arkemis then proceeds to halve Night Ghoul's attack. Night Ghoul attacks back and my Djinn Muirat destroyed the enemy Arkemis at the end of round one.
My RNG luck seems to be in high gear as Djinn Muirat was also poisoned right after he went into the frontline. My last tank, Arachne Thug, was also killed at the third round, leaving me with two magic monsters that are weakened by Tinderlock's Silence ability.
Tinderlock is finally standing alone with a massive 20 health and six range damage against my Djinn Muirat. On top of all his abilities, Tinderlock also has Life Leech which will recover some of its health.
And as it turns out, Forcefield saved the day for Djinn Muirat. Tinderlock was only able to deal one damage rendering Life Leech ineffective. Meanwhile, he suffers from poison damage on top of the two magic damage each turn. This led to my victory in round seven and my first battle against Lorkus.
