This week's battlemage secrets feature Heavy Hitters. This gives all monsters the Knock Out ability. Knock Out allows monsters to deal double damage to stunned monsters.
Stun is probably one of the most annoying abilities that I'd hate to be on the receiving end of. And having enemies apply double damage on top of it is just simply brutal.
Interestingly, there are only four cards in the current Rebellion collection that have Stun. And unless new reward cards are released, only these handful of monsters can fully take advantage of the Heavy Hitters rule set once Chaos Legion rotates out of the modern format.
Redwyrm Dragon would be the ideal monster to play for Heavy Hitters rule set if we're only counting the Rebellion cards. Having a speed of six means he can attack early if not first. If he applies the stunned status at that point, it would be a death sentence to the enemy monster as all succeeding attacks it receives are doubled.
Shared Battle
The featured battle this week is a 21-mana match with FabFour, Heavy Hitters, and Close Range rule sets. You can check the full battle here.
Because of the constraints of the rule set with FabFour and only two splinters available, Death and Dragon, it became a mirror match between two Thaddius Broods. The opponent decided to take advantage of the Heavy Hitters rule set and placed Revealer in the second position. I, on the other hand, chose to fight with poison through Venari Bonesmith and Soul Strangler.
The first round was an intense exchange of attacks. Because of the level difference, the enemy Cursed Windeku was quickly taken out. But immediately after that, Silen Sha-Vi managed to assassinate my Soul Strangler before it can even take its first attack.
The next round relied on the RNG. Even though Cursed Windeku has high health, should it become stunned, the double damage from Silent Sha-Vi and Xenith Archer would have killed it, leaving me with two nerfed magic monsters. But fortunately, the 50% chance to stun did not proc and Cursed Windeku managed to kill Revealer.
Cursed Windeku delivers the killing blow to Xenith Archer and the match quickly ended at the third round.
