Is it food? Is it nest material? Is it both, an edible nest perhaps? I saw this squirrel go to great effort to pick this item up. Whatever it is, I'm not so sure it's food; maybe it is using its mouth to help carry it. After this the little critter scurried off and up a tree. I'm glad the squirrel stopped to pose for a moment on these bricks, as it gave me a nice clear shot to catch it in action. I always see them in the grass on my lawn, so anytime they are on top of something else, it's a nice opportunity to get a different type of photo.
