In the night, one of the first showers of the rainy season has fallen and here it dawns without fog, although with a ceiling of white clouds that generates the same effect as a giant chandelier of even white light... The sky is simply a huge white screen and it is impossible to know where the sun is located... The streets are hot and the humidity is very high, there are no perceptible shadows, that whitish light seems to flood everything...

Durante la noche ha caído uno de los primeros aguaceros de la temporada de lluvias y aquí amaneces sin niebla, aunque con un techo de nubes blancas que genera el mismo efecto que una lampara gigante de luz blanca y pareja... El cielo es simplemente una enorme pantalla blanca y es imposible saber en donde está situado el sol... Las calles se calientan y la humedad es muy alta, no hay sombras perceptibles, esa luz blanquecina parece inundarlo todo...

I have lived 53 years, practically all of them in the same village... However, I am never cease to be amazed by the almost magical effect that the first rains have on the plants that were previously wilted due to the intense drought. The foliage seems to green up in a few hours and the bare branches sprout new leaves compulsively... The colours of the streets are also different. This strange white light makes them solid and defiant, some look like oil paintings, others like intense watercolours... The truth is that in these light conditions, taking some photos and editing them for colour, is something that I feel almost obliged to do year after year...

He vivido 53 años, prácticamente todos en este mismo pueblo... Sin embargo, nunca termina de asombrarme el efecto casi mágico que tienen las primeras lluvias en las plantas antes mustias debido a la intensa sequía. El follaje parece reverdecer en pocas horas y las ramas desnudas hacen brotar nuevas hojas de manera compulsiva... También los colores de las calles son distintos. Esta extraña luz blanca los hace sólidos y desafiantes, algunos parecen oleos, otros acuarelas intensas... Lo cierto es que en estas condiciones lumínicas, hacer algunas fotos y editarlas para color, es algo que se me antoja casi obligatorio año a año...

I like take this kind of photos trying to portray the streets in an eloquent and natural way and thus transmit a more common but less intimate vision of what I observe. When I edit these photos I try to focus on achieving chromatic impact in a more accentuated way than I usually do in other photographic works intended for colour processing...

Me gusta hacer este tipo de fotos procurando retratar las calles de forma elocuente y natural y transmitir así una visión más común pero menos intima de lo que observo. Cuando edito estas fotos procuro centrarme en lograr impacto cromático de forma más acentuada de lo que acostumbro a hacer en otros trabajos fotográficos destinados a procesar en colores...

_{ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL NOTE: Photographs captured with my Nikon D7000 DSLR camera in RAW format, then processed in Adobe Camera RAW for adjustments regarding light, sharpening, contrast and depth... They were then exported to JGP format on which minor modifications such as straightening and adding watermarks were carried out using PhotoScape 3.6.3.}
