I was really surprised to see the pupa or cocoon in the small ornamental palm plant that we have in the yard. I have never seen one like this before and really love the color and the pattern that it has on the side of its pupa.
This is the pupa of the Elymnias hypermnestra, the common palmfly, is a species of satyrine butterfly found in South and Southeast Asia.. Although I have never observe or photograph the butterfly, but I believe the adult one will be as beautiful as when they are still in this pupa phase.
While I was trying to fin the info of this pupa, I notice the the caterpillar of this butterfly is even more beautiful, with some kind of dragon-like head. Maybe when I am back at home, I will check on that plan leaf, who know I was lucky to find and photograph the caterpillar of this butterfly.
but for now kindly enjoy the pupa of this butterfly which was sticked on the underside of the palm leaf.
I really love the color of this pupa with the green as the dominant color, and the red and white markings can be seen on the side of this pupa.
