I've been thinking about this post for a while. As an artist, I've always had to take care of my public image. I'm not just referring to body and personal care, but also to my image on social media and in public spaces.
I've even seen artists perform in front of an audience in shorts, even flip-flops or sandals. I've even seen them answer phone calls while on stage, and that's not right.
We must act and behave like professionals at all times and in all aspects of life. It doesn't matter if we're walking down the street doing our chores, even as public figures, we must be careful how we conduct ourselves.
We never know who we're going to meet or who has seen us, whether on television or in our live performances. We can't present one image on one stage and a completely opposite, negative image on another. Any negative image off stage can taint all the good work we've done on stage.
Then we have our image on social media. And by our image, I don't just mean the profile or cover photo of our profile or professional page. I also mean the content of what we post and share.
I think at this point it's important to emphasize that we must learn to work with social media. Even today, there are artists (and I'm only going to refer to artists in this case, although it can work for anyone) who are unaware of how the Facebook, Instagram, or Meta algorithms work, to give just one example.
There are those who don't know how to prevent anyone from tagging us and preventing all kinds of posts on any topic from appearing in our feeds. Even topics with inappropriate sexual content.
We must be careful with even that, because it can affect our public image.
When someone hears about us and doesn't know us, if they're interested in us, the first thing they do is search for everything published under our name. That's why they search for us on Google or our social media.
So imagine the image we would get if we opened our profile and found any kind of indecent post that we allowed to appear by not checking our tags.
We must also take special care with the content we publish. If our profile is artistic, we should not discuss politics, religion, or engage in online arguments, which will never contribute anything to us personally.
If someone makes a negative or offensive comment on one of our posts, don't respond and fuel that violence. Simply hide it, delete it, block the user, report it, but don't engage in useless debates.
We must even be careful with the profile picture we post. We shouldn't upload photos that could give the wrong impression of who we are. We must even be careful in this regard since we were students.
I have taught all this to my students.
Regarding our professional image, when we present ourselves in public, it will always depend on what we do. However, we should always be well-dressed, elegant, and appropriate. Always to the best of our ability.
For example, I've always told my children that when they go to play, they should wear a clean, well-ironed shirt and pants.
The colors and fabrics should, of course, vary depending on the venue, the level of the event, and the time of day. However, they should always be presentable.
It's not a question of snobbery or pretending to be the finest. It's a question of respect for ourselves and for the audience that listens to us.
We must always show the best of who we are and what we do. Therefore, we must present our best image to the world.
That's my advice today to share with the community.

Desde hace tiempo pensando en esta publicación. Desde siempre como artista he tenido que cuidar de mi imagen pública. No me refiero solo a cuidado corporal y personal si no a la imagen en redes y espacios públicos.
He llegado a ver artistas que han ido a presentarse frente a un público en short y hasta en chancletas o sandalias. Los he visto incluso contestar llamadas telefónicas estando en un escenario y eso no está bien.
Nosotros debemos actuar y comportarnos como profesionales en todo momento y en todas las instancias de la vida. No importa que andemos por la calle realizando nuestras tareas para el hogar, aún así, al ser unas figuras públicas, debemos cuidar cómo nos comportamos.
Es que nunca vamos a saber a quién nos vamos a encontrar o quién nos ha visto ya sea en televisión o en nuestras presentaciones en vivo. No puede ser que demos una imagen en un lado y otra imagen completamente opuesta negativa en otro momento. Cualquier imagen negativa fuera del escenario, puede manchar todo buen trabajo que hayamos realizado anteriormente en escena.
Luego tenemos nuestra imagen en las redes sociales. Y por nuestra imagen me refiero no solamente a la foto de perfil o de portada de nuestro perfil o página profesional. Me refiero también al contenido de lo que publicamos y compartimos.
Creo que en este punto es importante insistir en que debemos aprender a trabajar con las redes sociales. Todavía hoy hay artistas (y solo me voy a referir en este caso a los artistas aunque puede funcionar para cualquier persona) que desconocen el funcionamiento de los algoritmos de Facebook Instagram o Meta en general, para solo poner un ejemplo.
Hay quienes no saben cómo evitar que nos etiquete cualquier persona y aparezca en nuestro feed todo tipo de publicación sobre cualquier tema. Incluso temas con contenido sexual inadecuado.
Hasta de eso debemos cuidarnos, porque puede afectar nuestra imagen pública.
Hacer artistas cuando alguien escucha de nosotros y no nos conoce, si le interesamos, lo primero que hace es buscar todo publicado a nuestro nombre. De ahí que los busca en Google o en nuestras redes sociales.
Entonces imagínense la imagen que se llevaría si abrir nuestro perfil se encuentra cualquier tipo de publicación indecorosa que permitimos que saliera al no revisar nuestras etiquetas.
También debemos tener un cuidado muy especial hacia el contenido que publicamos. Si nuestro perfil es artístico, no debemos estar discutiendo sobre política, religión o inmersos en discusiones en redes, que nunca van a aportarnos nada en lo personal.
Si alguien realiza un comentario negativo u ofensivo en alguna de nuestras publicaciones no se dediquen a responderle y alimentar esa violencia, sencillamente ocultenlo elimínenlo bloquean al usuario denúncialo pero no entren en debates inútiles.
Debemos cuidar incluso la foto de perfil que pongamos. No debemos subir fotos que puedan dar una idea equivocada de lo que somos. Incluso, desde la época de estudiantes debemos cuidarnos en este aspecto.
Todo esto se lo he enseñado a mis alumnos.
En relación a la imagen profesional, de cuando nos presentamos en público, siempre estará en dependencia de lo que hagamos. Sin embargo siempre debemos estar bien vestidos, elegantes y de forma correcta. Siempre en la medida de nuestras posibilidades.
Por ejemplo a mis hijos siempre les he dicho que cuando vayan a tocar deben ponerse camisa y pantalones bien planchado se limpios.
Los colores y las telas deben cambiar por supuesto en dependencia del lugar donde toque, el nivel del evento y momento del día. Sin embargo siempre deben ir bien presentables.
No es una cuestión de snobismo, ni de hacernos los más finos. Es una cuestión de respeto hacia nosotros mismos y hacia ese público que nos escucha.
En todo momento debemos mostrar lo mejor de nosotros de lo que somos y lo que hacemos. Por tanto debemos mostrar nuestra mejor imagen al mundo.
Ese es mi consejo de hoy para compartir en la comunidad.
