Holo hello~~ How are you guys?
I hope all is well? I haven't Ben around as much as I had hoped for and mining season has really been beating me up ;;-;; Also, my application to Canada has really taken off so in the next few months, you might see me shivering my butt off somewhere there XD
That's for my life so far and a little proof of life from me XD
I am still on my dragon and creature saga (mostly because I've forgotten how to draw faces) and I have been enjoying making my creatures lately too, even advancing a bit in composing backgrounds and all XD
So today, I went back to doing Embrox because I really love its wyvern-dragon type design.
Duration: 1 hour
Materials: Micron 0.5 pen, watercolors, white and pink gel pens
I see so many of my peers doing watercolor lately and I was kind of jealous XD I do know how to use watercolor and all but I guess I've been a little out of practice since the last time I did watercolor was 2-3 years ago so maybe it's time to brush up on those forgotten skills.
For my progression:
I had started with a rough sketch. I was planning to do blocking a little using the 3.0 Micron pen I had but that dried up in the span that I didn't use it. Such a shame because I love thick nibs, but oh well. I will get a new one before I leave the country so it's a little cheaper
I do love the 0.05 nib though because it's thick but not so thick that it blots. and in my hands, my it ends up looking like a 0.02 again. I have forgotten how light my hands really are XD
Then I started my matercoloring. This was still wet when I snapped a picture of it.
Then this is when it dried up and I was trying to add more details and a bit more color and highlights.
Then I tried taking a photo of it under my yellow lamp because I wanted to see it with a mild glow... but I didn't like the shade so I went back to white light XD
Then I used my pink pastel pen and white gel pen to add the highlights to give it my kind of signature style.
I'm kind of happy because my traditional inking doesn't seem that far off from my digital and vice versa and that's a comfort to me because I feel like I'll be able to identify my work based on how I detail up.
So that's all from me! I shall try to draw some more before I attend my online appointments later in the afternoon
Have a great weekend everyone!
