On a green leaf still wet from last night's rain, an insect rested peacefully. It was a stink bug, or Leptocorisa oratoria in Latin. It is a long, slender insect with long antennae and thin legs, belonging to the Alydidae family.
This insect is also one of the most attractively colored insects. Seen from above or on its back, it is brown, resembling a dry leaf. When viewed from the side, it is green, closely resembling the leaf on which it perches. It is a lucky insect, given its coloration. Perfect for camouflage.
Stink bugs are also one of the easiest insects to approach. But there is one thing I don't like about them: they emit a very unpleasant odor. The smell makes me dizzy and nauseous. But only for a moment when I encounter this one.
